I feel like the stick is more of a luxury for specific situations than a realistic play style. Like for the hog/boulder levels and maneuvering around things that require a rolling directional shift (like getting around that wall at the start of the lost city).

Slippery Climb took me the least amount of tries to get Deathless (2) while Toxic Waste/The Lab both took me like 6-10 each. No fucking idea why, Slippery Climb just came naturally to me

I'm in the exact same place as you. I was itching to get to Crash 2 so I told myself I'd be okay with gold but I'm about halfway through and I have more plats than golds. I know I'm not going to be able to leave it like that so I'm going to have to go back and plat the rest before I move on.
It's not been too bad though, the shorter levels can actually more difficult. The longer levels give you quite a bit of time whereas the shorter ones make it so you have to be absolutely perfect

I was doing time trials yesterday in Crash 2 for fun and thought I am a filthy casual for getting only golds, not platinums

Checked a youtube video and realized you get the running shoes from 3 after beating the game. The guy did a shit load of mistakes and still got platinum times

Since 2 was the game I played the most as a kid it was kind of a breeze, I remembered where all the secrets and tricks were

Now to finish Crash 1 and 3, I remember way less about those two so I'll be in for more of a challenge

2 was exactly as fun as I remembered it being, my fond memories of it definitely aren't pure nostalgia, these games still hold up amazingly

As someone who just 100'd crash 1 I recommend doing warped first because crash 1 is a bigger challenge and it night be best saved for last so warped doesn't seem like a snugglefest. Then again maybe you wanna feel overpowered when you get there. I dunno

Just take it slow and focus on spinning away the bees and using the precious time before the next one respawns to make some progress

Really the first bee is the trickiest one and once you get past that it's pretty easy

At first I thought the stick might be better for the riding/boulder levels but then I realized I'm 30 and most of my muscle memory was made hobbit footing my thumb skin on a dpad. I never did relics in warped as a kid. Im getting all gold+ in crash 1 now, its fucking fun, just finished the second island. How tough are 2 and warped gold+ in comparison? Im worried about the water levels.

2 is by far the hardest to platinum. They expect you to use every trick at your disposal. Primarily the glitch high jump and dash boots, Hanging' Out will make you want to kill yourself and shout WHOA before you do so. Warped was a lot more balanced around relics so it's a bit easier than 1 and 2. Levels like Hot Coco can be a pain, but a lot of the platinums feel more in reach compared to the rest.

2 > 1 > 3 when it comes to relic difficulty.

Time trials on the longer levels are pretty ridiculous. I've been on Sunset Vista for a while now. I'm on route for the plat and gotten right to the end about 3 times. Its just that inbetween those attempts I've died several thousand times to nothing in the first third

Who /platrelicsornothing/ here? I'm working my way towards 26/26 on 1, currently on 17/26, it's tons of fun. Some plats are hard, but some are way too lenient, like Sunset Villa. I beat the plat time by 40 seconds and I fell a bit on the last rotating platforms.

Its easier to slide off platforms because crash uses a pill shaped hitbox instead of a square one like before. This, in turn, lets you jump off platforms while you are nearly off of them, at the very last moment. The same goes for the turtles; the hitboxes are actually more real and accurate and less blocky. This does make the game harder.

What is weird is that the jump is different. This is a game changer and probably should be changed.
