PS4 Pro and XB1X are just upgrades to existing hardware, and not even particularly noteworthy upgrades at that. You could spend 200 on a vanilla PS4 and get basically the same experience as a Pro.

The Switch is the only true-blue upgrade, because while it's not technologically superior, you can play every game on it in a portable form factor, meaning any multiplat on it is the de-facto best version of that multiplat.
For everything else, you could just use a PC.

What's the gimmick this time? I've had a Switch since launch after passing on both generations of the Wii.

It's a solid hybrid console with a good foundation to build on. Nintendo just needs to roll out a legitimate online experience and it's golden.

The JoyCon are comfy as shit and games look great given the horsepower under the hood.

I don't understand where the gimmick comes in this time around.

Are PS4 exclusives really worth getting a PS4 for if you have a good PC. I can't see how switch wouldn't be the logical choice for a console if you had a good multiplat rig. Nintendo exclusives, local multiplayer and portability just seem to complement a PC better than a PS4. I don't have a good PC so I have a PS4 and a switch, and PS4 is definitely a better standalone console but can't see how PC+PS4 is better than PC+Switch going forward
