I don't get it.
The game sound like it would up my alley, but I can't get into it.

Did you try Shadow of Chernobyl, or is CoP your first stalker?

If not, SoC is the better starting off point. It is a much more linear game that will better explain the world, story, mechanics, and all the different factions within it.

CoP is deliberately a giant open world that people who are already fans of the series can just dive in and do anything they want in. It will seem aimless and confusing if you go in blind.

You won't have trouble understanding the game, but playing 1 will enhance your experience with 2 a lot. Especially because at one point you return to the old area where 1 took place and you can see how everything has changed and it feels really nice

Gothic 2 is still MUCH better than 1 tho

1 is a good game but it suffers from backtracking and lots of fetch quests tho. And weird controls that take a while to get used to.

If you don't want to play 1 (but you should desu) i can spoil the story for you

I'm pretty sure Skyrim's map isn't divided by a loading screen, anon.

There are loading screens when you enter houses and cities, sure, but the main world is completely open, no loading screens.

There's also the Open Cities mod if you don't want loading screens for cities. Same can't be done for STALKER due to its shitty engine (which is somehow even shittier than Bethbryo).

The only one I own is ShoC, and that's because I got it for like $5 at a Gamestop like 8 years ago. The disc protection doesn't even work on it, so I might as well own a pirated copy anyway.

I bought all 3 games recently and started play SoC, but the game is legitimately 2spooky4me, I've never been so uncomfortable playing a fucking video game before. Like I get that's the whole point and that's part of the experience but I am almost not enjoying it.
