I'm /v/ and I don't approve of Pathologic. Deadly Premonition is good, though.
>>382725763
how long is this? is it spooky?
also >>382726350 is not really a walking simulator but is pretty cool if you back up your saves since it crashes every 30 minutes unless you have Windows 7 or earlier.
>>382727747
DP is as much of a walking simulator as Pathologic. It's basically Pathologic set in the US and developed by japs. Except it has a coherent story and likeable characters. If it's always crashing on you, run it it Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and check out https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deadly_Premonition:_The_Director%27s_Cut
>>382725256
I keep putting this off for the remake and they keep delaying it. It's been three fucking years now.
>>382727747
It's pretty short.
It's not really spooky it has more of an weird eerie trippy sort of atmosphere.

It wasn't already listed in the image I downloaded, and I'm too lazy to add it or make a new pic.
>>382730357
I forgot to black out Baldurs Gate, Torment, and Eternal Darkness. These are googames, but walking is less of a focus than the others.
>>382730935
you can get the 2 hour demo on steam now at least. they say the full version comes out in autumn and this time they're totally for real.
>>382730651
They already tried when classic was released
>>382725256

there is an in-game economy that fluctuates, but I'm playing blind as the bachelor and I've managed to do alright even though I made some stupid economic decisions. SPOILER PROTIP:buy all the food you can before day two and sell what you food you don't need before day three.

stanley parable
>>382731815
I agree with this review.
The original game is like hearing a song where the ideas are fantastic, but it's performed by someone who has absolutely no clue how to play an instrument, like the Beatles.
Which of the dayz mods is the best or just active? Do people still play the original mod, or is everyone on Arma 3 fan mods now? Stand alone is ok but it has no zombies, no respawning loot and no vehicles
NaissanceE was rad.
>The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
>The Solus Project (if you have a Vive)
>KHOLAT
>>382734407
seconded as fuck
>>382734061
the last I checked, the arma 3 version was the best, but I haven't played since six months after the standalone came out.
I'd also like to add Albino Lullaby to the list of walking sims.
>>382734407
>>382734623
These two, game is sweet as fuck. Pretty much what BioShock should have been. I'm not one for voice acting but that was also top notch.
>>382734827
>Pretty much what BioShock should have been.
That's stupid and you're stupid.
They aren't even close in theme or intent.
What remains of Edith Finch was great.
>>382735035
>underwater derelict installations full of psychos and spoops
Yeah you're right man, no similarities at all! Obviously they are different in gameplay and theme you fucking mong, I guess I should have specified setting.
>>382734623
>tfw akers can open doors
>>382735212
>no similarities at all!
No one said this.
>I guess I should have specified setting
You should have said something to the effect of:
>SOMA is better than Bioshock even though the only single thing they have in relation to each other is the setting, and I'm also going to conveniently ignore the fact that there are other aspects to the setting beyond environment, including time period and social climate.
Then we'd be on the same page, I think.

You can keep looking for the epic, deep interpretation of my post on this Mongolian throat singing imageboard if you want, homeboy. Good luck.

>not keeping BGE

>>382734221
NaissanceE is pretty cool but I absolutely hate how they did the last half of the game. It was just some girl walking through a Blame-esque mega city but then they turned into some pseudo-intellectual psychological shit about going into her mind or something. The platforming was also really bad. I really loved playing the game but the ending just made me hate it. It's like the developers decided they weren't being pretentious enough and they ruined the game by pulling a "its all her head" stunt.
>>382736023
>epic, deep interpretation
Now you're just stringing random words together.
Face it, you lost this social interaction, and I won it.

The Serial Experiments: Lain of walking simulators.
I fell for the meme on Beginners Guide. Why on earth did I spend money on a game I literally and unironically could have watched on youtube for free instead and lost nothing in translation. Walking simulators, never again
>>382739436
I did too. I was head over heels in love with Stanley Parable, so I refused to believe it could be bad. It left such a disgusting taste in my mouth to the point where it was the first game I beat fast enough to get a Steam refund
>>382740517
>>382740591
just because you use your feet for locomotion in a game doesn't make it a walking simulator

I'm so fucking dissapointed of you /v/.
>>382740887
Undertale has no fucking gameplay. It's a walking simulator with a coat of paint that makes it irresistible to retards who won't admit it's just an interactive hallway with memes
>>382741252
>yume nikki
>>382741513
Just like any other JRPG then

>>382741252
Monthly or so Yume Nikki threads are still the best threads on /v/.
>>382736337
Oh god seconded. I loved it apart from everything you mentioned. I stopped playing once I met the 'final boss' because fuck that shit, this isn't why I'm playing this game.
Would still recommend it.

>>382725256
If we're going to call games with a cool story but unbelievably atrocious gameplay walking simulators now, you've got to include Rule of Rose. That game is an incredible experience but it's like it was made by someone who learned programming while it was in development.
Like, fuck it dude, let's just have the main character take damage for every single frame that her hurtbox collides with an enemy hitbox. Who ever heard of hit invincibility, repelling characters after a hit, or giving the enemy damage on just certain frames of their animation?
>>382746896
pathologic?
>>382747542
>>382725256
that's a sandbox game though
>>382747716
it really isn't. have you actually played it
I'd like to take a moment to remind you all that the Pathologic remake looks fucking sweet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd7HEMm7Xmg
>>382749117
No but I've heard enough about it to know it's a sandbox.
>>382749859
Open world is not the same as sandbox
>>382749792
reminder you can get the demo on steam now >>382731716
Aside from 100% certified rad box art, what is /v/'s consensus? Playing it nowhaven't got Pathologic yet
>>382750295
It's pretty good but I didn't realize it was from ice pick until now. they should be working on the pathologic remake instead of making new shit
>>382733817
>like the Beatles.
What a pathetic attempt to sound cultured and smart
>>382750295
Beautiful game, one of the few legitimate arguments for 'video games as art', although the unconventional gameplay makes it a bit inaccessible for most.
>>382751013
What are you on about? The Void came out YEARS ago, long before the remake of Pathologic was in the works.
>>382730357
Can you post the uncensored version?
>>382747437
I really do love this game, but I'll never play it without savestates again (I do own a copy). Still one of the few games I replay a couple times a year.
>>382736417
But you lost in the long run at not having autism. Sad!
>>382725256
How's the HD version of this game?
Is it any good?
>>382751978
just 4 u
>>382753350
I never played the original but the hd remaster runs fine with no crashes at 80 hours of gameplay. It still looks dated but other than that it's great. It's also on 80% off on steam right now.
>>382753674
Cool
I'll buy it tomorrow
>>382734393
Ethan Carter was gorgeous and did some cool things yeah
I liked What remains of Edith Finch.
>>382753486
This list introduced me to Syberia 1 and 2 and I have to say they were pretty great.
Walking simulator, Admit it isThe combat is non-existent with how easy the combat isandif you're fast travelling everywhere all the time you're doing it wrong
