I have really no idea what my top 10 is. I have some games that I remember as having the most fun with, and BotW is definitely among them. Hadn't felt so much joy and fun with a game since child hood. Maybe it was nostalgia, but I think it was mostly the great sense of adventure the game brings. It's just pure exploration. So many cool things to disover to. The first time I saw a dragon flying far off in the distance was one of the best experiences I've had in a game. It was so simple but so unexpected and wondrous. Fucking love this game.

Game is easy, or rather unbalanced and exploitable via mechanics thrown in your face. Food/Elixirs being the most notable. There is somewhat of a learning curve, but it's pointless (and very short) because the game itself doesn't pose any real challenge. There are no obstacles to overcome unless you create them. That's like the opposite of what a video game is supposed to be.

The game, assuming it revolves around the Main Quest (which judging by the quality and Aonuma directly, is indeed an assumption), has like a dozen enemies. Literally. 4 easy, boring bosses, Scorpion Ganon, Mini-Guardians, and some throwaway enemies during the pre-beast minigames.

I mean what the fuck? I was expecting the Beasts to be fuckhuge and overrun with Ganon's minions, and the world to be on fire with calamity and monsters fucking up everything. Hyrule is basically a generic MMO, it's fucking pathetic.

Zelda 1 was open but not so massive as to be a bore to traverse, and unlike BotW its dungeons are rewarding in their own right as opposed to being just like the shrines everywhere but a little bigger. I value Zelda 1's conciseness relative to how sprawling BotW is.

I beat ALBW before LttP and I think ALBW was more consistent. LttP just wasn't as good as everyone hyped it up to be. Some of the bosses were really lame and some dungeons also felt pretty weak.

I think, they could continue to use "breakable" weapons but reduce the ennemies HP (while buffing their AI, which is a bit of work I admit). This way even when you're fighting ennemies with a shitty weapon, it doesn't take like 5 minutes to put it down.

But to be entirely honest, I think they could just completely get rid of the breaking weapon system, but makes every weapons RNG generated (but following a formula like : where are you in the game, what ennemy did you fight, to win the weapon, to dermin a range of power). This way you would still change weapons regularly, but mostly because you found coolers weapons and not because the old one broke

Breath of the Wild is only coherent to children because it requires their ignorance to fill in the blanks. Just a couple of days ago some anon made a thread asking why Link/Zelda didn'y hook up, and so on and so forth. Eventually the conversation shifted to a discussion about emotion and Nintendo's fear of it, to that end anon mentioned that their was romance in the form of a wedding in BotW, but there is no romance. Just a wedding between two nobodies whose sprawling love occurs completely offscreen, while you experience mindless fetch X of Y quests no less. The Legend of Zelda is absolutely for and will always be for children. The difference between other entries and BotW is that the gameplay and level design was sometimes half-decent. It was always on the low end of Action-Adventure games, especially the 3D games, but it was better than the nothing of BotW.

Your fear of depth isn't fooling anybody. Nintendo can't or is unwilling to write or build worlds that leave people attached to them beyond iconic nostalgia. Nobody will be nostalgic for BotW because the only people who are playing it are 20-30 year olds remembering better times, times that don't coincide with your vague, lifeless experience with this game. Enjoy being afraid, even if subconscious, it's more of a feeling than these shallow games will ever give you.

Easily, yes. I had a blast from start to finish. Exploring the game was a real joy and I never felt as immersed as in this game. Everything felt natural and it just clicked.

I cant explain it. Wish I had the time to replay it.

Early game is 10/10, exploring is rewarded by getting good weapons and rupees and there's always a chance you can run into a guardian and get bumfucked. late game is 5/10 exploring gets you nothing, the master sword is more than enough to destroy everything in your path and you always have a shit load of rupees.

I've lived for about 25 years and my top 10 games have all been made of games I've played up to 3 years ago at the soonest.
Why anyone would so quickly decide on wether or not they call a game one of their all time favorites is beyond me. Let it age a little.

I am currently doing my third run of the game and I'm still enjoying it just as much as the first time so it's most definitely up there.
I still need to give it some time but yea it's up there.

I'v eplayed many games in my life
many of which I could easily call one of my favorites
but then there's games like Mario 64 which I can replay once every month from beginning to end for 20 years and still not get tired of it.

Now that's a fucking favorite right there but it's that amount of time I feel like is needed to truly know if teh game has lasting appeal.

I enjoyed it but it was the little things that stopped the fun for me. for a game that puts a heavy emphasis on traversal I found moving around not as satisfying. The paraglider is not a fun to use, after playing frow home and grow up i was expecting something akin to that but nope we just got, something that lets you fall the same way but slowly. i would have loved if there was a sense of momentum to link depending on when he lanches the glider, imagine diving with the glider to pick up speed and air and just launching yourself up. I was expecting a situation where if youre gliding too fast you have to make a soft landing with link.
