I'm a lot more hopeful for more Psychonauts than I am for Beyond Good and Evil 2 to be honest. The updated style looks good, the old voice cast is on point, the writers, composer, and artists are back, etc.

I'm still tempering expectations, and I don't think they can top the weird creativity of the original, but I still think there's potential for something worth playing.

I'm pretty sure the combat will be definitively better. I just hope they have the the time and budget to make the world feel as interactive and lively as it did in the first game.

You could basically spend hours in the original just trying every random item and power on every character to hear new jokes and banter.

Black Velvetopia's probably my favorite.

I loved the style and emphasis on the symbolism. And the way the bull fighter and flamenco dancer started to talk like a dumb jock and snobby valley girl after the truth was revealed was hilarious.

Black Velvetopia is the best level, Lungfishopolis comes second. The theater is easily the worst, if only because the transition that plays when you switch moods takes forever.

One thing that stood out about Black Velvetopia for me story-wise was how Edgar was more involved with the issues and recovery of his mind.

Most of the worlds still end with a wacky boss fight, but I thought it was a nice touch to have Edgar be the one to finally have to choose whether or not to let go of his anger in the end.
