>>382713218
So far it's been surprisingly good. I thought it looked sorta fun, but it's a lot better than I anticipated. The zombies can be pretty challenging at times (mostly in hordes at night), so the combat isn't dull; the looting is fun and necessary to better prepare for the horde each week, and building stuff is more interesting than it was to me in Minecraft because in this, you're designing your base around preparing for a huge horde of zombies every 7 days.

That said, I like these kinds of games. I like survival elements in games. The food/water aspect of this game is sorta like how food is in Stalker, where it's enough of a thing to make you plan around it and stuff, but not annoyingly so like in DayZ. I'm also a huge fan of games with lots of loot and crafting, so scavenging for building materials and weapon parts to upgrade my weapons is appealing to me. And then eventually getting autistic about your base design is appealing tom e too. So basically, if you like those elements but also don't want some super hardcore shit, I think it's a pretty good choice.

Bear in mind though, I've only played it for 12 hours so far, so the appeal may wear off after another 10-20, but at $10 it's already been worth it anyway.
>>
Here's some fun games that I enjoyed

>Fairy Bloom Freesia - $3.99
You play as a fairy who beats the shit out of monsters to protect her forest. Gameplay consists of wave based beat em up sections leading to boss fights.

>Before the Echo - $0.99
A rhythm game RPG. You have three lanes of DDR style arrows. You hit one lane to generate mana, one to block attacks, and one to pull off spells. The soundtrack is mostly Ronald Jenkees tracks.

>Space Pirates and Zombies - $4.99
A top down 2D spaceship game. Create a fleet of spaceships and battle your way to the center of the galaxy to find out what is making zombie flesh ships. Physics based combat is challenging, yet rewarding. the game is also filled with black humor.
>>
I'm looking for a game that I can keep open and play while I'm watching a stream or something. Maybe something menu based, like how FTL is, but I'm played it too much. Just something that you can play but doesnt require you to always pay attention

Any recommendations?
>>
>>382713218
It's my favorite survival game. Also my favorite zombie game. Just a warning, expect to die a lot until you get good.
>>
>>382713218
I should say though that even though you'll be doing a lot of scavenging for better quality weapons/weapon parts, the overall weapon variety isn't huge (maybe 20 weapons overall between firearms, melee weapons, and bows), and the shooting could feel better. It's not bad, but there's definite room for improvement there.

Alpha Protocol is pretty rough, it has some neat ideas but in the end it kinda feels unfinished

It is. The only reason the Pirates is being compared to Mount and Blade is because of the similarities in terms of combat and the over-world.
Although, Warband is most likely what they're referring to. I haven't spent enough time with OG Mount and Blade to gain a legitimate opinion.

My current shopping list so far.

Worms Reloaded/Armageddon
Metro/Light light
Kung Fury:Street Rage
Act of War: High Treason/Direct Action
Democracy 3 DLC
Age of Empires DLC
Original War
Neon Drive
OutDrive
Razertron 2000
Civ 5 collection
Sonic 1/2/3/CD
Minilaw
Plague Inc
The Escapists
This is the Police
Inside
This War of Mine
Distance
Invisible Inc

I want to believe that these are all good games but frankly im not sure.

Are there any utter utter shit games on that list that it is not even worth the price?
>>

The steam sales have been shit for like 5-6 years now.

No more ridiculous flash sales on newish titles, no more free games for participating, no more fun.

Yeah, each run through a dungeon is typically 30 min to 1h, so it would be good for that.
>>
OneShot: a 4th wall breaking and puzzle game for 6 bucks (also some feels). Even if the game is short (played 8 hours) it was still worth it.
>>
>>382716430
If you aren't interested anymore then spend your time elsewhere. Otherwise check for missed good games in the past and fan mods. Good games are often kept alive by their fans.

>>382716678
Use Vsync for fps limit because otherwise this game tends to go crazy with resource consumption, even if you've no need for Vsync.

The game is solid. Fun factor is in-between Commandos 2 and Desperados as there are only 5 abilities per character and the insides of structures aren't accessible. So for me Commandos 2 is superiour despite being harder to control. The issues I had with this game were 4:
1) Vision cones are very long so you often get spotted by enemies off screen. That's annoying but tolerable due to quicksave.
2) The camera doesn't allow straigth top-down view and thus you'll struggle with corners and vision cones / enemies around corners, forcing you to turn and turn the camera.
3) Pathfinding considers only the current height the character uses as passable and will ignore ladders etc. to get up / down. That can be tedious.
4) Using higher positions to jump from them or throw enemy bodies from them sometimes isn't possible in places it should be possible or from which it has been possible before for unknown reasons. Can be a major fuck-up for the gameplay.

Hint: Mugen can throw enemies onto other enemies to knock them out without making any noise.

What are some RPGs that you design the entire party from scratch? The only ones I can think of are Icewind Dale 2, Blaze and Blade, and Pokemon (sort of).

Not him, but E.Y.E is very niche, its gameplay is manic, the difficulty varies wildly from time to time, the story is open to endless interpretation, it's buggy as all hell, and you'll probably feel like a peon for at least the first 10 hours.

But it's also crazy fun, and legs, legs, your legs are broken and you've gained brozouf and now you're insane and your gun is firing on its own, and are any of the enemies even real, and now you're 50ft in the air because of your broken legs, isn't that great?

Played it for the last few hours. It's pretty okay. It mostly feels fair although you really will have to like the tunes to do it. Haven't tried my own music yet though.

Not him, but not too long ago I was playing Titanfall 2 at 144fps and without knowing I changed something and my monitor's refresh rate was set to 60. When I loaded up the game I thought I was running at 30 and my GPU was dying or someshit. In the games I'm used 60fps in and I haven't played at 144, I find the lower frame-rate alright, but it's a pretty jarring difference once you get used to the higher frame-rates then jump back to the lower ones.

With his comment regarding Dishonored, I remember the PC port having issues on release, I was fluctuating between 40 and 70fps until I decided to wait for the fix. Not sure why 100fps would feel like 25fps though, maybe he does have autism.

Uh, anyway steam sale talk, huh?

I'm here to shill Tales of Maj'Eyal in case anybody hasn't played it.
It's an open source tactical roguelike (proper roguelike, not indie shit roguelite)
It plays a lot like Nethack but with a more tactical oriented combat that involves multiple skills on a cooldown and passive skills that you have to manage using a stamina bar.
I recently got into it and really liked it. I'd imagine any fans of roguelikes or RPGs will love it too. Also comes with a babby mode that turns off permadeath if that's your thing.
Being open source you can try it for free
https://te4.org/
And you can also buy it on Steam which gets you a bunch of neat stuff like an extra class, some cosmetic shit and the two expansions.

Mafia III is a decent game for $15. Combat and gunplay is pretty good, and it's quite lengthy. Just know it's buggy as horse shit. An extra $10 for the season pass that has decent stuff.

Dragon's Dogma is probably your go-to then. It's really good after you get past the tutorial stages, which is after the infamous cart escort to Gran Soren, to get there it could take you anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending if you play on hard mode or not and if you do the side quests at the beginning. I stopped playing at the final fight because I went into solo on hard mode and couldn't beat it, I ended up teleporting out of the boss fight and it bugged my game so don't do that it's okay though because I already beat it on console ages ago.

I really really love the first two Gothic games, but the controls will certainly take some getting used to for new players because the games are quite old. I own the GOG versions so I'm unsure how the steam copies run.

Game is worth it to enjoy the leveling, comfyness, and combat, then you realize it's P2W and RNG based and you'll never ever catch up to the autismos that have been grinding since beta.

>>

Not sure who the anon is who keeps being mean to you, but the only MMOs I've played are World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV. I've heard that Black Desert is a super grindy, but if you don't mind that then it might be worth giving it a go, the combat looks flashy and the character creator is supposed to be top tier, it's not expensive either. I really didn't like Elder Scrolls Online after they added the level scaling. I'm an Elder Scrolls fan, I mostly like Morrowind, but Oblivion and Skyrim are alright. The level scaling ruins ESO though, I started playing with a friend who was already like level 30 and we both went to fight this bandit, I expected this level 30 friend of mine to one-shot this level 1 bandit, but for him it was a level 30 bandit and we both did the same amount of damage to him even though we were 29 levels apart.

I'd say WoW is one of my favorite games of all time, I only got into it recently too. Up to level 20 it's free to play, so I'd say give it a shot.

Just a heads up but if they haven't removed the multiplayer option in the steam release you can fix being unable to close the menu in multiplayer once you open it by putting an older dplayx.dll into the folder. For windows 8 and later you may need to make an empty dplayx.local file to get it to pick up the other one. (Not sure if dplayx is on the list of dlls you need to do that for or not)

No, it's extremely grindy and P2Winny.
>>
>>382728220
No, it's mostly a single player game, outside of node wars, which you would need a big group of p2w geared and leveled players.

You can still play it casually and enjoy the environment and combat though if that's what you want. But farming anything is done mostly solo.

Try some co-op multiplayers. Dungeon Fighter is fun as fuck with friends and it's a more bonding experience than Black Desert since it's just beating the shit out of bosses and stuff.

Games like Minecraft, Terraria, Borderlands-ish, MMOs, GTAV, Gmod even Runescape back in the day
Just a popular game where you arn't limited to having to stick around for 90 minutes or you can go and do something else while you're friends continue playing.

No, PoE was my first CRPG as well and it was horrendous. Definitely too boring and shoddily written to draw in someone who hasn't already been with these style of games for a while.

The writing is all purple prose to sound like it's interesting when nothing is being said or happening. Also, the combat is a step above the worst shit I've ever played.

I think Divinity: Original Sin is a really good place to start if you're not familiar with games like it. The combat is better/more polished than in most of these games. It has some pretty neat ideas. The writing is alright but not some of the best the genre has to offer, but that's offset by all the quality of life improvements compared to the old greats. And it's pretty open ended as well.
>>
>>382732154
If you've played the batman arkham games it's kinda like that but with inferior combat. I bought it for £30 and didn't regret it so it's absolutely worth $3.50.

Just don't go into it expecting a faithful Tolkien adaptation because it completely shits all over the lore in a lot of ways.

nothing of interest from that info dump.

I'm currently looking at the following from my list.

Judgement Silversword
Raiden Legacy (reviews say it's shit)
Ziggurat
Kamui
Alwa's Awakening
Pharaoh's Rebirth+
ESCHATOS (can get it in a pack w/ Judgement Silversword...)
Sublevel Zero
Assault Suit Leynos (sequel to Cybernator but I can buy a physical copy for PS4 for around $11-14.... Steam it's $9.99... )

I'd like a racing game that's arcade. Neon Drive and Distance are on my list but I'm not really feeling it. I'm good on FPS as I'm more retro in that category and SIN doesn't go on fucking sale ever and I'm to lazy to bother pirating the episodes..

I've been in a 'retro' bubble for awhile so that's what appeals to me more so than modern shit.
