I cannot immerse myself into females, I cannot imagine what it is like and I do not enjoy imagining what it is like. I could immerse myself into Daud, trying to feel what he feels, trying to think like Daud thinks. With Billie I just fucking can't. I'm cautiously optomistic about it. I'm thrilled for more Dishonored, and I really enjoyed 2. But we'll see. The only thing I hated about 2 was re-using Delilah. Brigmoore witches was fine. FPS was a mistake. Its third person dude. THIRD. PERSON. You're looking at the person you're "Imersing yourself" as thorough a third party camera. I think the main problem isn't Billie being black (Character design choice) But rather her being ugly as sin. A main box-art character is supposed to be appealing, as you're showing off the person you're going to play as. If you look at D2's renders, look at fucking Corvo. He's dressed nicely, he looks professional, And even with the mask over his face, he still looks like an interesting character.

Billy looks atrocious. Not only does she not have her mask (Staple of the series) But with the robotic eye and the blade arm, she doesn't look badass, she just look plain, generic and boring.

This. Billie is just not a very interesting character, not to mention we know everything about her story at this point. Meanwhile we've still got the Heart talking about how strange men noticed that Daud had quick hands as a child, but God Forbid we get to play his perspective again.

But we're supposed to empathize with the stony bitch who was a key conspirator in a long scheme to kill Daud suddenly deciding that she wants him back because he was the only family she ever had. So whatever happened between Dishonored 1 and 2 that made the story and the characters so much worse? No one so far but the Outsider is actually interesting to interact with. Even Jessamine's spirit became a wailing pity ghost rather than the downplayed and much more effective Heart of the first game, and suddenly having protagonists with personality adds the problem of Emily being weirdly okay and not at all opposed to carrying a carved organ from her long-dead mother around.
