1 is great, it's basically Crash Bandicoot 4.
2 is shit, they tried to make a GTA clone but the end result was a poorly balanced game with a shit map and navigation.
3 is great, it improves over everything 2 was trying to accomplish and it succeeds

Faggots didn't even upgrade the audio for jak 1 and 2. It's the exact fucking same files because no one knew how to fucking reverse engineer the audio engine.

Jak 1 is a very average collectathon that looks even more average when you consider some of the best collectathons/3D platformers of all time came out right before it. 2 and 3 are this weird bastardization of R&C plus GTA that doesn't really excel in anything and lost all the charm the first game had going for it.

Yeah, I am disappointed because the composer Josh Mancell has been putting up the original music renders of both games on his soundcloud before it was compressed and sampled for the games. They had a chance to showcase the music exactly as it was created and they did not take it.

What's more astounding is that someone actually recreated the score of Jak 1 in Ableton by ripping out the raw MIDI data and then remaking the sample banks used for each track. They could of done the same and updated the samples with the original ones.

They are decent games in their own right. I do recommend it.

I disagree, I played the trilogy for the first time in 2012, when the remasters came out, and 3 is clearly superior to 2. The vehicles control better, the missions have more variety and the combat is way more polished.

The original Jak & Daxter is the best 3D platformer ever made by a Western developer, a true classic. Jak 2 is a big step down gameplay wise but has an entertaining story with good voice acting. Jak 3 doesn't really well in either gameplay or story - it feels like a bunch of content cut from Jak 2 for not being good enough.

Precursor Legacy is one of the best collectathons ever made with only a few obnoxiously frustrating Orbs to grab. Tight controls, linear yet vast areas to explore, and some amazing settings.
2 gets mistaken for an edgy GTA clone when in reality it expands upon everything from the first game while raising the stakes and overhauling the lore. The banter between Jak and Daxter is easily the best part of Jak gaining a voice. Dark Jak has no importance to the story until 3 and is just there for gameplay reasons and there are times you'll need it. The only issue this game has is its scarcity of checkpoints in certain missions like the sewer escort mission. The final boss is especially brutal if you don't know how to cheat it.
3 is personally my least favorite. It kept the mission structure but too many of them involve driving around the desert in cars, which is fun and novel the first couple of playthroughs despite getting tedious afterwards. Otherwise, the normal missions are the best in the series and does a great job wrapping up the series. The twist at the end is also fucking amazing, regardless of whether it upsets you or not. It had me laughing like crazy when I saw it for the first time.

It also spent way too much time making you drive around, a lot of the weapons were useless, and it was extremely short relative to the other two. I could overlook the first two if the game wasn't so short.
