I feel like from the 80s/90s we got a lot of iconic characters such as mario, pac man, sonic, pikachu, etc. but from 2000 and onwards I think the only character that has truly reached iconic status is master chief. what do you think?
The Minecraft guy
No.
Also this>>382684950
And Skyrim guy.
I guess Kratos could count, especially with that new one coming out, though I've never liked the God of War games.
Tracer and Teemo are dangerously close
FNAF
Brotherhood of Steel guys

Dante, yo. Hell, Inklings are getting fairly iconic, and they're even more recent.
Not that I like this fact but Sora has become iconic.
Maybe her? Not sure though.
Vanessa
I thought he was the clone of games like half life and Doom nothing else..
Inklings could stand to be mario/kirby/pokemon/zelda tier if 2 and future endevors go well.
Bayonetta is also reaching a certain level of regocnizable at this point. About on par with something like metroid or banjo kazooie imo.
Angry bird. Skylanders are pretty close but doesn't really have a face character people know. Really just go to a Walmart and whatever has merchandise is usually well known.

>Brotherhood of Steel guys
I hope this is bait, although Bethesda did really make Vault Boy a mascot
>>382685951
A girl I used to work with has a keyblade tattoo, that she sort of redesigned to personalise it, on her forearm. Definitely iconic / normie franchise
>>382686091
Oh yeah this is a good call - her voice, dialogue, the Aperture symbol, etc all immediately bring her to mind
>>382684806
Nathan Drake is definitely up there. Say what you will about the Uncharted games, people who don't even play games have at least heard of Nathan Drake.
>>382684806
he to the ho
>>382686601
>The Aperture symbol
If you truly want to be objective, the Companion Cube is far more iconic as a symbol, due to all the shit that came with it.
GLaDOS is the iconic character of the franchise, but not as a pop symbol, as would be the Chief's helmet.
Not quite Mario but notable.
Maybe someone from GTA too? Tommy?
>>382686749
Jack Frost wasn't made in the 2000s, though
>>382684806
Max Payne is pretty iconic, same with Serious Sam.
>>382688164
>Serious Sam.
Who?
>what is phoenix wright
>>382684806
Actually think youre correct. Theres a bunch of good characters but nobody has been put on as much merchandise as Master Chef from the 2000s anyway.
>>382689856
Angry Birds begs to differ.

Dante
Inklings
Kratos, even though I hate the fucker
Tracer
Bayonetta, maybe
>>382684806
Agreed. Everything else posted in this thread are niche/bullshit.
>>382684806
Nathan Drake, Kratos, Marcus, Minecraft Steve, Marth (if you count western perspective), Big Boss (if you count as protagonist). Just to name a few.

>Niche
Hmmmmm

Angry birds hasnt been around for almost 20 years, think about that for a second. Halo came out in 2001. 4 more years for its 20th anniversary. I mean sure angry birds got that movie made where Halo didnt, but ive seen a lot more MC than angry bird guy.
>>382690325
Kratos, Minecraft Steve maybe.
Rest are a reach.
>>382686180
literally who
>>382684806
>>382684950
>>382685518
These are the only ones.
Nobody posted in this thread comes close to the MC besides the minecraft guy. Normies need to know about the character.
>>382684806
I disagree. Master Chief was popular, but not iconic.
Snake is iconic
Then there was some other things you can say were iconic, but not solely tied to games, such as the Yu Gi Oh stuff.
Master Chief was the mascot of mircrosoft for a while, however he seemed to lose a lot of ground around the release of 3.
fucking obviously
>21th?
>>382684806
Not exactly iconic but they are damn recognizable
>>382691338
lol
>>382690627
You must not go out much.
Angry birds has stuffed animals, plastic miniatures, 2 mini t.v. series on Netflix, and some other stuff. It's big man
>>382691265
I'd say chief's design is more iconic than snakes
here comes the monnnaaayyyy
