It was passable before on a technical level. Nothing fancy, but it was at least a little bit satisfying.
WW's QTE looked nice and was a fairly small window that the game gave you. TP had a ton of different attacks depending on how you moved and whether you were targeting or not. If you wanted to swing or stab your sword a certain way, you could, and that's even without the special moves you get later.

Even damage calculation is stupid in BotW. Attack and defense is added and subtracted instead of multiplied, so unless you limit yourself you'll either take half a heart or 18.
Healing system doesn't help because you can carry an infinite amount of ingredients afaik and there's no limit to how much you can eat when the game is paused.

I played both too. Horizon was alright, and Zelda was mostly disappointing. Wouldn't call it bad at all.
It feels like Horizon is consistently alright, while BotW was amazing for the first couple of hours when I didn't know anything but only got worse and worse from there because you don't get anything new except ravioli's gale and waterfall swimming outside the plateau.
Could have really benefited from more pokemon HMs and permanent items.
