TRPGs with great story. Pic related
There aren't really any games with 'great stories' but Tactics Ogre LUCT and Front Mission 2 are pretty good.
only game in the series that manages to actually feel like a grand epic tale, desu

They're called SRPGs.
>>382657674
There is not much "strategy" in there.

Utawarerumono

Shining Force 2
Not a SRPG but the gameplay is very similar.

The start is decent, but it just turn into a evil priests and their goal to unleash demons.
TO Luct is great tho

>Guts gets stuck in Fire Emblem

It was still a pretty good twist though and the way wiegraf was tied into the storyline later was pretty sweet. but yeah after that (ch 4) it loses steam since vormav, etc just werent as interesting villains as he was

I quite liked it, it's just quite different from FE4 story-wise and feels more like a pretty good anime than a "Tale Of Olde"
best story in any of the post-Kaga FEs honestly
For what it was (anime game) Disgaea 1 had a decent story at the time its too bad every Disgaea after had shit stories.

s stands for simulation
>>382657568
The idea was good but the game was not particularly well written
>>382658191
Game could have been good, but goes full retard after the time skip.

I agree that the writing isn't anything worth noting, but I'd argue for these kinds of games the grand sweeping scale of events and the big impactful moments are what make them good for a vidya story - for example, the Yied Desert and Belhalla massacres are really memorable for me, even if the actual dialogue during those events wasn't memorable

And what it's simulates exactly?
>People hate the dialog of ye olde Europe
Its good when its less flowery

Cuan didn't deserve that. Neither did Travant.
