How do I git gud at this game

Tip for an easy start. Hire everyone you can, send them into a dungeon with nothing extra, loot as much as you can, run just before tpk, fire all the now half dead and retarded characters, repeat for starting cash.
>>
>>382644375

Remind yourself that overconfidence is an insidious killer.

Oh, I know. I'm not OP. Just pointing it out.

I played the standard difficulty back on release but got burned out from the late game grind.

Is Radiant mode worth it for someone who doesn't have too much time to play? Or does it just ruin the game's balance?
>>
>>382644375
Just have two healsluts on every dungeon behind. It's literally impossible to die then.

look up good comps
make sure they have the upgrades they need so they wont die in higher tier dungeons
uninstall the game because it's a shitty grinding simulator and the first 10 hours are exactly the same as the next 40 hours
>>
>play tutorial
>send Crusader to self-flagellate or whatever to relieve stress
>he refuses to be taken out of it next week
>no frontline heroes available
>party gets absolutely slaughtered
What was I supposed to do to prevent that?
Also, I put a torch into some artifact once and got fucked by a bossfight out of nowhere. Did get him down to half health though
>>

>Also, I put a torch into some artifact once and got fucked by a bossfight out of nowhere. Did get him down to half health though
haha, yea, I did that too.

it's the Shambler, and you can fight him that way, or apparently he turns up when you're at 0 torch
>>
>>382644375
This is how i play because i find heroes are dispensable at low levels(later on they are become almost indispensable because how much you invested on them). Luckily, building upgrades are permanent. For the first 20-30 weeks of your game focus on making a lot of money and upgrading heroes slots.

Spend your first blueprint on a bank district..Hire at least 2 antiquarians so you can cycle them to run dungeons make money. I usually run medium length dungeons with 1 antiquarin. Medium length could earn you at least 20k golds. it could be more if you finish the mission. Avoid long or longer length dungeon because the limitation of your back slots means you will end up discarding a lot of items and end up only around 30k golds. It's pretty much a waste of time if your goal to earn money.

I usually open wiki to check which dungeon need which supplies or heroes composition. For instance, warren require 4 or more shovels and most of the enemies are weak to bleed. Try to complete dungeon although sometime there will be misfortune where you will lose a guy or two and have to retreat.

Once you reach 200k-300k golds you can adventure the way you want with 5% profit per week from the bank.

Tip: Guild and blacksmith is high priority upgrade if you have spare badges. If you want to upgrade tavern and abbey, focus on bar and cloister because they are cheap for stress relieve. Most tanky melee has poor accuracy but good damage and health, try to equip acc+ trinket on them. Preparation is the key to success. Know thy enemy

one of the most useful bits of advice is, at least early on, just dismiss basic characters who have high stress, rather than spend money getting them de-stressed or leaving them idle to fill your roster-cap... obviously keep a core of people you want to invest in.

Radiant Mode for those who don't enjoy grinding.

Darkest Mode once you can handle Radiant

Stygian when you've become a masochistic autist.

Lastly if it's really that hard there are casul mods out there.

You accept the fact that you're going to lose no matter what.
After that, you won't get that upset about the crits/bad rolls/monster placement.
Study the skills, best hero teams, read a guide if necessary. Just don't get your hopes up about winning. If you are doing well, however, be prepared to lose everything in literally 2 runs.
The game's catalyst is Murphy's law.
>>

>What was I supposed to do to prevent that?
You can't, it's pretty random. Recruting adventurers are free anyway. Try to recruit variety of them. Hellion, man-at-arms and leper are excellent tank. I suggest to have at least 2 vestal and 2 occultist, if you have the slots so you can cycle them in out.

Don't bother unless you like grinding and arbitrary punishment. The Most Helpful reviews on Crimson Court store page are also a great indicator of how amateurish Red Hook is.

>>382648582

There mods for those on the nexus.

>>
>>382644375

Never get too attached to your characters. They're expendable.

Also, certain characters work best on certain areas, like Plague Doctors at the Ruins, Occultists at the Coves, and anyone with Bleed at the Weald and the Warrens.
>>
>>382649207

If you screw up, there's always a rare town event where you can revive one of your dead

>>382649414

If you want the new class and settlement building, yes. Before you start the game, there is an option to whether activate the Crimson Court DLC, the Flagellant class or the settlement building.
>>
>>382649551
>collector
>rare
Not really
>>
>>382649320
Pretty much this. Some areas have lots of armor, like the cove, so dots work well there, but only blight because they resist bleeds.

Skeletons are immune to bleed but week to blight, so blights work well on them.

Etc etc. Each area has dots you should use basically, just make sure you have the right class.

The one advice that really helped me is to stop caring about heroes. You're not supposed to spend too much money on trying to keep them alive and healthy. Keep sending new ones into the meatgrinder.

And start using stress reducing skills on runs.
>>
>>382647115
It improves the game a lot imo. It speeds things up so its not such a slog, and it doesn't make late game any easier.
>>
are they likely to fix the DLC "issues"

stuff like needing invitations, blood, etc sound annoying as fuck
>>
>>382647115
According to the devs, Radiant Mode cuts down campaign length from default 80 hours to about 40.
>>
really? I find them interesting except for the invitations. It makes juggling slot even more pain in the ass.

The revived hero has no armor upgrades and skills, however.

But if the class(and level) is really what you need then it's worth it

>On Second Darkest Dungeon quest
>want to use Occultist
>see one that's level 4, decide to level him up in a long, hard quest
>everything going smoothly
>run out of torches
>1 room left to clear and we're done.jpg
>literally 1 square before said room
>Shambler spawns
>Occultist bites the dust first
>gotta wait for an occultist to appear barracks before i continue my dankest dungeon quest
>3 runs in, no occultist. at this point, i'm prepping a different team for the dungeons
>town event - resurrect a fallen hero
>I can finally revive my level 5 occultist to continue the dungeon
>revive the fallen level 4 cause he had better quirks

Would cuck again. Finished the last darkest dungeon quests without any losses.

lvl4 in lvl5 dungeon. Though they'd pull it off but got randomly fucked over by strings of crits from the enemies while they seemed to be able to dodge every third attack.
