starting automata in hardmode is a really bad idea, you die in 2 hits from anything and the bullet hell section is really difficult, also you don't have many healing items. once you're in the open world and are able to save, going back to hard is a good idea.

Alright I won't lie, I suck at action games, but I had a nice time getting ending A on normal. Got ending G soon after and now I'm trying to finish up side quests are 9S. I honestly don't like playing as 9S. I had a lot more fun with 2B's moveset. I really should've done the side quests as 2B. I had no idea I was going to be locked out of doing them later.

Persona is not a game

Bought it during the sales. Played 31h of it.

It was a great experience, but probably not as excellent as some people around here may say.

The combat is smooth, but ultimately lacks a lot of depth. Combos are really simple and in small numbers.

The environment are vast and empty, and you spend a lot of time going back & forth in them. Some areas are cute, but you usually can't really explore those a lot.

The story is rather interesting. The characters are probably more interesting than the story itself, even if the gradual story mindfuck as you progress through NGs was a nice touch.

But her ass was phat, and we all know you'll just buy it for that.

I'm having the exact opposite experience. The first Nier nearly moved me to tears so many times meanwhile I'm 35 hours into Automata and haven't really felt anything besides interest in the plot. I think part of it has to do with the soundtrack, while Automata's is still great I have yet to hear anything as emotionally hitting as Ashes of Dreams, Dispossession, or Emil/Sacrifice.

The space ship part is not difficult it's just that the whole prologue is very long, has multiple boss encounters (even though it's kind of always the same saw thing/goliath) and people don't know how the game works yet. They don't know how forgiving dodge is or how it can be spammed so they might try dodging at the last milisecond thinking that's how it's supposed to be done and then miss. Or they might not know dodge can be spammed and then dodge once but then get hit right after because the saw is hovering on top of them, etc.

See the thing is in other games Nier included, they'd reveal something new about a character, then the character and/or other characters would act upon this information and something cool would happen. Mikhail learns Zero's plan and resolves to help her even though he doesn't want to lose her. Papa Nier learns about Popola and Devola and tries to talk them down. 9S learns about 2B during one of his very last scenes and doesn't really change his perspective at all. Even if he had the time it's pretty fucking likely neither him or anybody would have cared that 2B is 2E.

I can play pretty comfortably on my OC 970 with Global Illumination on medium using the FAR mod. Though half way through I took it down to low because I really couldn't notice the difference and occasionally I'd drop frames on scenes with loads of effects on medium which triggered my autism. Everything else was on high barring aa because it fucks up the pop in when used with ao. I also had to deal with crashes occasionally even with limiting my cpu affinity but it seemed to have helped with the stability.

I loved the first Nier for it's characters, story and side quests even if the combat was shit. I thought they'd improve the combat for Automata, but it felt too simplistic in the demo.

As somebody who loved the first game, Automata isn't an improvement on anything that made the first game good. All the bad things about the first game were improved to acceptable levels, but that doesn't make it a better game overall.

The first Nier has higher highs, but lower lows. Automata is pretty consistent across the board.

If you don't really want to spend $42 USD to support Taro, then pirate the game. It was cracked a while ago.
