Nah, that's Devil Survivor. DDS is most similar to mainline, but is more story heavy.

DDS, Soul Hackers, or IV. IV is a perfect place to start, but Soul Hackers can be more enjoyable if you're up for more of a challenge.

Nocturne's a fine place to start if you want demon collecting

Play Nocturne, It's the best one hands down. You won't regret it.

start with nocturne or strange journey to get a good general taste of what the franchise has to offer, but that might be personal bias speaking tbqhimho if you're super casual start with persona 3 or 4

Hard as in difficulty? It's really not that bad once you figure out the battle system and how to capitalize on bosses weaknesses etc.

Matador is the casual filter but once again, if you just can't seem to beat him, just find a guide or figure out the bosses weaknesses through trial and error.

I have to second this, Nocturne and Strange Journey are my absolute favorites. SJ is so so so good. IV is great but I didn't like the art style changes and the voice acting made me cringe.

So I've played DDS 1, Nocturne, IV, and Strange Journey... I want to get into Persona, where should I start and how does Persona differ from SMT?

Persona games don't nearly have as much as a serious or world threatening plot like SMT games do. That isn't to say that they aren't as good though.
Also Persona games are tight af. Way "cooler", for lack of a better term.

I tried going straight from SJ into the first SMT. It was not a good experience suddenly missing out on all the qol mechanics like crab walking.

Holy toot fully heals the character with the least health percentage
Evil toot instantly kills your party member with the highest health

Oh yeah, I guess it didn't really give me any problems, beelzebub was more annoying about that but still managable.
That full heal toot is god like though.of you have him in your party.
