Do you like jumpscares in video games?

i hate them.
i like being scared by the tension or the atmosphere, but jumpscares fucking suck.

The only game where I felt that the jumpscares "meant" something and are actually creative and interesting is "Cry of Fear" which is actually the best horror game i ever played

They can be cleverly used although that is pretty much almost never.

Best Siren game.

I like when they happen accidentally. Turning around and being startled by an enemy there or something is great. Canned jumpscares specifically put there by the developer are okay in moderation, but when that's all a game is relying on to be scary it's garbage.

"""atmosphere""" without the knowledge of an actual threat is fucking worthless, there MUST be jumpscares or at least actual consequences for horror to work correctly. If you've ever played one of those "atmospheric" horror games then you would know that they're just a fucking bore because nothing will happen.

Jumpscares are like getting long overtime at work. It's nice every once in a while but if it happens all the time it fucking sucks

Only when it's unexpected, if the game's main feature is jump scares and the player is aware that failure means jump scare then it's bad, this means the game is a literal streamer bait.
