HITMAN (2016)

I love Blood Money, but fuck, the new one is just a level above it, even.

i still have the CD of it, played it back when it came out and i have the best memories of it, but it has aged poorly imo, really nice missions tho

This

Absolution would be up there too except for that retarded as fuck stamina bar that depletes when people see you or some shit, what was it?

Just being seen once was pretty much a death sentence unless you could trap the person following you into a small room and then somehow kill them and stuff them in the nearby box. Blood Money's "no one can see you when in disguise" was better

But 2016 gives you the "instinct lets you know who can blow your cover and if they see you you can run away and they'll just give up and ignore you generally" which is the best for balance by miles. This is the best base gameplay mechanic and of course it looks the best

2016 > Blood Money > Absolution

BLOOD MONEY HAD THE BEST MUSIC THOUGH

I never played any of the contracts. Was it just the regular game story mission but "you have to kill them with this specific weapon/disguise/method" ?

Holy shit it's one of the games in the franchise you clueless newfag, not fucking DLC.
>>
>>382600474
there was never a specific way to kill anyone in those missions, only to kill them, the closest thing to a story was that all missions were flashbacks and then the last mission is back to present time, thats it

My personal favorite is Silent Assassin. However, I believe Blood Money and 2016 are the best candidates.
>>382599320
>>382599403
Contracts was basically an action horror game.
>Dat moody as FUCK atmosphere
>Dat room with the dead girl in Meat King's Party
>Dat gunshot jumpscare in the intro
>Dat loud as fuck screaming in the intro
>>
>>382599320
Doing a silent assassain run at the moment on ps2. Its fun but there’s a lot of bullshit mechanics that pop up once and awhile.
>>
>>382598283
Blood Money is still the king, it just has way more content than the new one.
The new one is awesome but it's only 6 levels, it should be twice that to compete and beat Blood Money.
I realize that the first 3 levels of the new game are the best in the entire series, but Blood Money has some great levels as well.
>>
>>382601297
also the ghost in the hotel, the very first mission, the manor was creepyish
>>
>>382599763
Absolution had all those horrible "stealth/escape" missions, and all those fuckin maps with checkpoints made to progress from A to B without backtracking... Honestly those were even more aggravating than the broken disguise.
Absolution was a shitfest of wasted potential. Some assassination levels were good but truly not enough and it just cannot compare to Blood Money or Hitman 2016.
It looked great, maybe even better than Hitman 2016 sometimes
>>
>>382598283
4 > 6 > 3 > 2 >>>>>> 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Turdsolution

6 has bigger levels but I liked the greater variety of BM. And the online-only features and unlock system are dumb. I didn't get a whole lot of replay value out of it either *shrug*
>>
Contracts for atmosphere and music. 2016 is the best mechanically but it feels like its lost its weird, grimy European soul that made Contracts so good.

Also locking shit behind elusive targets is dumb, I bought this shit, I should be able to unlock everything regardless if I have the time to kill Gary Busey.
>>
>>382601896
The linear levels were a bit hit or miss for me. I think the strongest level was the underground research lab, I fucking loved that entire level so much, and it was mostly a huuuuge trek. I was halfway expecting that sort of level to show up at least once in the 2016 game but they were all classically designed mega massive levels that you can (and needed to) mesh into. It just feels good to mesh in and play hitman, it's just so good and I'm just delighted that the newest one was so great. Too bad the series died though, they should have just made a full sixty dollar game rather than that episode telltale shit that no one likes.
>>
>>382601417
I simply cannot get into the Marrakesh and Colorado levels in 2016 at all. The rest of the game is really solid, perhaps even better than Blood Money, but it struggles to match up. I like all Blood Money's levels with the exception of the riverboat one.

Very underrated.

The unique atmosphere makes it.
>>
>>382602398
the generic overly loud music ruins it.
>>
>>382602245
I don't think the series died, the game flopped but they have potential and assets for a second season, they just need a publisher less shitty than SE. Or they might just kickstart it and publish it themselves, that might work for them.

>>382602276
I think Marrakesh is pretty good, but Sapienza might be the best Hitman level ever, imo.
>>
>>382598283
After Blood Money's sound track I cannot play a hitman game without the haunting music. It has become a part of its DNA. 2016 is great in terms of gameplay but lacks all the charm of a ture hitman title.
>>
>>382598283
Blood Money. No contest.

Absolution is cinematic dosgshit. 2016 was overly-polished dogshit and nowhere near gritty enough. I also really, really hated the nonsensical training missions where you kill... actors? What the fuck was even going on there? Any sort of explanation for that retardation?
>>
>>382602276
2016's levels are really hit and miss. Everyone loves Sapienza but the rest are meh at best. Bangkok is the fucking worst and Colorado feels like an Absolution left over. It's obvious which one the dev's enjoyed most as well considering only Marrakesh and Sapienza got bonus episodes
>>
>>382602508
>generic
take it back bitch before i let you fuck me
>>
>>382598283
Does anyone feel that 2016's main flaw was its low difficulty? It's slightly better with the new difficulty, but you need to pump dozens of hours into the game before you unlock it and it still feels too easy.

I really enjoyed Blood Money's professional difficulty in that it demanded perfection. A perfectly planned route, with one slip-up sending you straight back to the start. Kind of satisfies a part of me that no other game does.

Not in the current year. Shovel Knight is the only good kickstarted game. All the others get shit on or at best are just unimpressive.

Yooka Laylee was fuck
Mighty Number Nine lol
Shantae was mediocre which half genie hero was GOAT

Gimme a break life, hitman was great. Like the new one was soooo good at dealing with new people, they gave them perfect crutches for the newcomers that seasoned veterans could turn off. What did they do wrong? Fuck ing fuckguckufucuf fufuuuuuuuck fuck fuck FUCK
>>
>>382599763
>Absolution would be up there too except for that retarded as fuck stamina bar that depletes when people see you or some shit, what was it?

Nah, there was a lot of problems with that game besides the instinct meter.

First off, a lot of the levels were incredibly linear, not just in literal size, but approach.

Then there was the retarded ass story.

The AI is brain dead. I mean, sure, Hitman has always had wonky AI, but this was something else.

And everyone should always point out the moment you can kill a wrestler in the middle of a ring, with everyone watching, take off your mask and STILL get a Silent Assassin ranking.

The game was a mess.
>>
>>382599320
Good but honestly I didn't like the fact that they recycled something like 4 missions (or 5? I don't remember, it's been a while) from the first game.
For me it's the weakest, even if I have no problem acknowledging that the first game is buggy and broken as fuck, I had too fun with it something like fuckin 17 years ago (!)

Anyway, Contracts biggest sin was being inferior to Hitman 2, imo

I have to agree on atmosphere, its fucking incredible how good the dark tone it is.

Either way, bought it again on Steam and whenever I get killed it literally bugs the fuck out and crashes. Anyone know a way to fix that shit?
>>
>>382603053
Who cares?

If you don't like the story, ignore it. It's not like you can't skip the cutscenes.

The story in Hitman only ever served as an excuse for Hitman to globetrot and kill targets in picturesque places anyway. If you're taking it too seriously, you're doing it wrong bro.

1 is very clunky and hard, it has some of the worst missions in the series but has its moments too, play it if you're interested in the series as a whole and for completion's sake.
2 didn't age very well either but I really like how it plays out like a spy movie, the missions are connected by the plotline instead of being random missions and it has a lot of great moments.
3 is probably my favorite in the series.

It really comes down to Blood Money and 2016. BM feels like the more solid and complete experience, and therefore is the better game, but 2016 comes close second. If season 2 is any good it might at least be on the same level.

>>
>>382602858
Blood Money is even easier than 2016 though since trespassing doesn't count as a crime and the AI is braindead. 2016 at least has enforcers and better AI to make things more difficult.

Everything is like this now, just stop buying games and move on.
