Recently started playing again about 2 weeks back, haven't played since ARR basically and started from scratch on a new server. Have about 1m gil and started to wonder what's a good way to start making money? Or am I doomed to spend the hours maxing out my profs before I can even start?

Class variety isn't even the major issue for tanks since they won't differ them anyway. All tanks wind up with the same toolkit because people will bitch and scream if we have something akin to WoW TBC with one tank excelling in single targets with strong mitigation against them, another with a fuckton of health to absorb lots of magic damage, and another with strong AoE capabilities to handle large groups.

Also, there's the weird situation that the game has that tanks are fucking scarce in pugs and very common in top tier content, in which healers become relatively more rare. I think if I were ever in charge of MMO design though, I'd remove dedicated healers from the game entirely and just give classes spot heals to survive with, such as a tank having to balance between attacks that build up a single large self heal or aggro or a support DPS that can plop an AoE heal on the group if they're able to properly execute their combo. Everything would do low damage so it'd take a while for the players to die, and fights would be more about mitigating the damage the players take by avoiding AoEs and active abilities for tanks to parry/block/avoid attacks.

Are there no master books for crafters yet? I just hit 70 BSM.

How do I 4.0 DRK?
As I see it it seems to use Dark Arts all the time for several skills, keep blood price up everytime its possible and also use shadow wall and rampart if its out of cooldown. It also seems like the soul eater combo is used most of the time dps wise and the powerslash combo is pretty much useless after you have full enmity, is this right?

Tanking is actually a very easy job in most dungeons. It's not like old MMOs were losing aggro on mobs wipe groups instantly and most bosses mainly focus their mechanics on getting other players to move or avoid. In trials, as the MT, its usually even easier.

Well, i play glorious paladin, best of the tanks, so i don't get ques.
