I haven't played one since Rogue but I've meaning to get Unity for ages.

Best one overall is Brotherhood, best weapon were the stupidly OP bombs from Revelation where you could just drop them at your feet to kill everything while you were unharmed. AC2 has the best locations though.

Blackflag is by far the most repetitive game in the series since 1. People that actually enjoy the series now that one AC3 isn't as bad. Revelations is actually great and Unity is one of the best AC games.

Never played AC before.

Which games should I play and which should I avoid? I just want to enjoy the plot before it went full retard and all over the place.

Is it the original trilogy? Trilogy + some others? If AC 1 2 and 3 are the first three games, do I still play Revelations and Brotherhood? Skip the rest?

Or fuck it and play them all?

It really isn't bad. The haytham chapter was fine. The Connor beginning was slow but after it picks up it's fine. And it's pretty much AC4 but if it had decent assassination gameplay. The worst thing about AC3 was the story and let be honest all ACs have dumb awful stories.

I liked Revelations too anon, though I admit it was one of the weaker ones. Loved the story and the character focus for Ezio, Altair and Desmond. Even Lucy and S16 got their stories. Cool ass city and nice Jesper Kyd music.

You don't know how shocked I was when I found out that they opted to go to Ancient Egypt. Hell, they are apparently doing an "ancient trilogy" with Greece and Rome next.

You'd think that when the series faces trouble and Ubi of all companies gives their flagship franchise a break, that they'd choose the #1 setting that people have been asking for for 10 years now since the original AC.

I'm actually pleased by this, though.

I loved AC1.
Then AC2 was pretty bad, I didn't like the WoW quest system.

AC1 had the best setting, crusades and stuff. Roaming around killing muslims, and the story was interlinked with the missions.

If they stuck with the AC1 game mechanics, I'd have finished the rest of them.

I've got AC3 on my Steam which I never finished either but I'll have to play it again to try and enjoy it.

The other AC's I didn't play but they are probably boring.

I like RPG's that is more gameplay than talk. it's why I can't play the witcher 3. yeah I get the whole immersion stuff but I don't have that type of time on me. AC games have the right balance.

as for you being hyped for AC1 and not liking AC2. don't know what to tell you. I do agree that AC1 was repetetive, it's why that isn't my first reccomendation for people who haven't played the series. though I loved AC2 because the missions were fun and eganging. I've played through it again in 2014 and still had a blast.

brotherhood and revelations just felt like AC2 expansions, it's like I already played the game.

AC3 was dog shit. long ass tutorial, too many scripted scenes, 90% of the map was boring af, and I felt like uninstalling the game every time a cut scene ended.

I found liberation to be a vast improvement of AC3.

rogue was kind of cool. unity was meh, I liked the setting though.

syndicate felt like a unity expansion in a different setting.

I am excited for Origins though and this is coming from someone who was never excited for any AC game after black flag.

forgot to talk about black flag. the reason I loved it is because it was a fresh AC game and these devs are somehow the ones that perfected sailing on the ocean like no other dev has. it's a very satisfying game. it is repetitive though

all in all, I've always stuck by only recommending AC2 and black flag to people looking in getting into the series. every other game is optional.
