I haven't played one since Rogue but I've meaning to get Unity for ages.
Best one overall is Brotherhood, best weapon were the stupidly OP bombs from Revelation where you could just drop them at your feet to kill everything while you were unharmed. AC2 has the best locations though.
>>382598019
Naw its more just a history trip into the origins of the Creed and why it was created. Story is long gone. I honestly see Rouge, Unity and Syndicate as spin offs. Makes more sense that way.

Blackflag is by far the most repetitive game in the series since 1. People that actually enjoy the series now that one AC3 isn't as bad. Revelations is actually great and Unity is one of the best AC games.
>>382598819
I liked it. the setting was fun, especially the swamp area and the character was interesting. it was a AC3-era game like brotherhood and revelations were part of the AC2-era but I enjoyed it more than AC3
AC3 shittiest moments was the 5 hour kid tutorial and the useless fucking forest

Never played AC before.
Which games should I play and which should I avoid? I just want to enjoy the plot before it went full retard and all over the place.
Is it the original trilogy? Trilogy + some others? If AC 1 2 and 3 are the first three games, do I still play Revelations and Brotherhood? Skip the rest?
Or fuck it and play them all?
>>382599214
the problem with AC1 was the pacing. it got dull a lot.
>>382599206
It really isn't bad. The haytham chapter was fine. The Connor beginning was slow but after it picks up it's fine. And it's pretty much AC4 but if it had decent assassination gameplay. The worst thing about AC3 was the story and let be honest all ACs have dumb awful stories.
>>382599243
I would have loved China but noooooooooo. 2.5d bullshit for you.
>>382599286
>I just want to enjoy the plot before it went full retard and all over the place.
Gotta play AC1-Revelations for that.
And no, no matter what happens play through AC1. I mean it.
>>382599391
I do agree, and the second you learned how to counter with the hidden blade it was just game over. But still beats the combat of 2 and possibly brotherhood i dont remember. At least in 2 you couldnt be killed in combat, you would heal by the time they attacked again iirc
>>382599286
1 - 3(including brotherhood and revelations) are the only ones that matter in terms of a coherent plot
after that they just kind of gave up and put the same story in each game so people didn't have to play all of them to understand what was going on

>>382599286
just play AC2 and then AC4: black flag
if you play AC4: black flag and then AC2, you're going to miss the extra mechanics that were in AC4. you'll enjoy AC2 a lot more if it's your first AC game
both games are on sale on steam btw. each $10. $20 for both of those game is a fucking steal, man.
Am I the only one who like Revelations? The hook blade was fucking awesome and that game had the best inventory system.

I liked Revelations too anon, though I admit it was one of the weaker ones. Loved the story and the character focus for Ezio, Altair and Desmond. Even Lucy and S16 got their stories. Cool ass city and nice Jesper Kyd music.
>>382599214
Because you could choose how to complete the missions.
You could run in like a absolute retard and kill everyone, easily.
But if you played the game the right way, you were in for a hell of a good and atmospheric experience.
Not to mention AC1 is the only AC that doesn't punish killing civilians after you finish the story.
>>382599243
>>382599528
What I find extremely odd is how the spin off platformer games give us 3 super interesting settings for assassins creed game. One being in China another being India and one in I shit you not one during the 1917 Russian revolution which in a turn of events is the most modern assassins creed in the series.

You know what I find extremely odd? That Japan wasn't their trump card.
You don't know how shocked I was when I found out that they opted to go to Ancient Egypt. Hell, they are apparently doing an "ancient trilogy" with Greece and Rome next.
You'd think that when the series faces trouble and Ubi of all companies gives their flagship franchise a break, that they'd choose the #1 setting that people have been asking for for 10 years now since the original AC.
I'm actually pleased by this, though.
>>382599286
AC fanboy here. I actually like the series, here's my advice.
AC1, 2, BH, Rogue, Unity are worth your time.
Rev, 3, 4, and syndicate are if you just want more AC.

>>382599705
>the big booty one from syndicate
Who?
I loved AC1.
Then AC2 was pretty bad, I didn't like the WoW quest system.
AC1 had the best setting, crusades and stuff. Roaming around killing muslims, and the story was interlinked with the missions.
If they stuck with the AC1 game mechanics, I'd have finished the rest of them.
I've got AC3 on my Steam which I never finished either but I'll have to play it again to try and enjoy it.
The other AC's I didn't play but they are probably boring.
>>382600192
Looking at the hidden blade again, I remember Altair had to lose a finger for it to work. Does the new protag from ACO have a finger missing?
So how come they are making a game based around black flags combat and not Assassin Creeds god-like multiplayer?
>>382599286
I've played and completed every single one besides the mobile ones. just play AC2 and black flag. trust me, I'm saving you a lot of time.
>>382600349
ACO is about the actual founding of the brotherhood that people see in AC1. So yeah, he's missing the finger.
>>382600349

It was just some bullshit symbolic thing.
>>382600349
He does.
>>382600421
>Assassin Creeds god-like multiplayer?
meh. it's cool for a few hours but it gets old quick. I'm sure ubi tracks the population and see the dramatic population drop in AC multiplayer for every game that has had it. I'm glad they're changing things up with origins. it needs it.
AC2>AC4BF>ACBro>ACRev>AC3>AC1>The rest
>>382600537
No it wasn't. It literally didn't fucking work because the design wasn't modern enough. Only after Altair modified the hidden blades did people stop cutting their fingers.

>>382600467
Why? I was SO HYPED for AC1 when I saw this trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXBafIUhQ7k) on my Xbox360 all the way back in 2006, got the game when it released, played it for 8 hours before I dropped it for how boring and repetitive it was.

I like RPG's that is more gameplay than talk. it's why I can't play the witcher 3. yeah I get the whole immersion stuff but I don't have that type of time on me. AC games have the right balance.
as for you being hyped for AC1 and not liking AC2. don't know what to tell you. I do agree that AC1 was repetetive, it's why that isn't my first reccomendation for people who haven't played the series. though I loved AC2 because the missions were fun and eganging. I've played through it again in 2014 and still had a blast.
brotherhood and revelations just felt like AC2 expansions, it's like I already played the game.
AC3 was dog shit. long ass tutorial, too many scripted scenes, 90% of the map was boring af, and I felt like uninstalling the game every time a cut scene ended.
I found liberation to be a vast improvement of AC3.
rogue was kind of cool. unity was meh, I liked the setting though.
syndicate felt like a unity expansion in a different setting.
I am excited for Origins though and this is coming from someone who was never excited for any AC game after black flag.

>>382601946

>>382601573
adding to this post
forgot to talk about black flag. the reason I loved it is because it was a fresh AC game and these devs are somehow the ones that perfected sailing on the ocean like no other dev has. it's a very satisfying game. it is repetitive though
all in all, I've always stuck by only recommending AC2 and black flag to people looking in getting into the series. every other game is optional.
>>382602250
This. Brotherhood wasn't even supposed to happen. We would've gotten whatever kind of AC3 he had in his mind and that would've been the end of it.

>>382601946

dont lie, what did they change and when
>>382602868

>>382602618
The entire point of AC was that eventually Desmond would be fully trained by all the assassins, and the player would eventually get to use him an liberate this AC bros.
There was literally NO reason at all kill him off, replace, or whatever.
The only reason it was done was to keep the gravy train moving along the money rails. Its horse shit.
Why even get invested into a story if they just butcher it for the sake of profits later on. Pure garbage.
>>382603092
What did Unity, Rouge, and Syndicate add to the main plot?
>>382598726
Syndicate needs to be in avoid, and maybe Liberations. Otherwise I agree.
>>382603229
Unity added nothing to the plot and was basically a waste of time. Which is a shame because the gameplay was the most polished it's ever been in the series.
>>382603229
I'll tell you what lad. AC4 - Syndicate barely added anything to the overall plot. Not a lot of stuff has happened after AC3. The little storyline that started with AC4 and went on until Syndicate actually got ditched from the games and is now being finished in the comics.
It's a fucking shitshow.
