I would more accurately say that video games are like any other activity, in that they train a skill at the detriment to others. It's much like that kid whose parents forced advanced education on him from the time he was 3 on forward. He made it to college at 11, got a master's degree at 15, and wound up having a breakdown at 17 because he didn't know how to actually handle the real world when he got out there. He wound up working in a hardware store for minimum wage.

Essentially, too much vidya without other things to balance it out could cause the same imbalance, impressive critical thinking skills but poor social skills.
