When Aku Aku runs out Crash is still guaranteed to live through another hit because he keeps him. Mario has to have picked up a mushroom beforehand. The odds favour Crash.

It depends on which game each character is getting their powers from. For most of Crash's appearances, it lasts 20 seconds, but one games lasts as short as 10 seconds. I can't seem to find a specific answer on starman's duration, except that it lasts 10 seconds in New Super Mario Bros. and that that time is shorter than the usual duration. I'd say it would depend entirely on what powerup Mario has, since he can have a star at any size but Crash is guaranteed to have 2 hits remaining when his invincibility ends.
