I don't know, but Pathologic is a great experience indeed.

What's so great about them? I'm want to play them really bad because of all the good things I've heard.

It's certainly my favorite game

I even bought the Board game from the kick starter.

My computer is a toaster so I wasen't able to play the marble nest, and waiting for the remake is suffering.

Your thread (and feelings) suck m8.

It isn't
The atmosphere is 10/10, but other games have a 10/10 atmosphere too but with fun gameplay
>>
No, but its hands down the best story and atmosphere. If the remake delivers on half of its promises game of the decade is decided

Whether you liked and finished Pathologic pretty much means whether you're a smart person and a true gamer or an underage faggot

It's a fantastic work, and one of the most emotional experiences the medium of videogames has to offer. But is certainly isn't for everyone, and I don't mean it in a pretentious way : it's a game made by mad people, for mad people. This has nothing to do with it not being mainstream : being a Russian literature simulator inherently limits its audience. Besides, it does have a fair share of flaws, intended or not.

>>382558231
Now you're just being a pretentious cunt.

They came out with an update in june talking about how their fixing all their animations as they know full well they were not the best.

here's an exert from the update

>A great many things comprise the atmosphere players enjoyed in Pathologic of 2005. The sick, foggy town. The dilapidated structures sprayed here and there. The odonghe and herb brides and kids, these little stray dogs roaming the streets. The languid townsfolk, suspicious of a stranger yet seemingly nonchalant about the odonghe and feral kids.

>Of many things Pathologic was, it was never a beautifully animated game.

>Don’t get us wrong, there were interesting choices in how some of the townspeople moved. Drunks, determined to move in their swaying plod to their last day are just one example. Kids also had a few lovely, albeit unpolished motions. Moreover, there was a lot of it.

Also in the remake they are partnering with a new musician and they have decided to make a music video

If somebody can't play it because of the animations then he just shouldnt fucking play the game.

>>
that disgusted feeling in the bachelor's playthrough when you realize Simon Kain survived the sand pest infection but Rubin later grinds his body to pulp in an attempt to find a cure
>>
>>382560363
I thought the unfitting industrial hip-hop added the the bizarre nature of the game.
>>
>>382561156
When do you learn that? Did I miss it?
>>
>>382561156
Answer me honestly

have you completed the bachelors route yet?

Also, if you want actual answers
play the changeling route
>>
>>382561156
>>382561267
>survived
I seem to remember that Rubin indeed used the corpse to make a vaccine, but it was just that : a corpse. When they say that simon is still alive, they mean that his """memory""" is trapped in the polyhedron and he will reincarnate in Georgiys body.
>>
>>382561401
I've played through all routes but it's been over a year.
>>382561267
Don't remember the exact day but it's when Rubin gives you the white vaccine.
>>

Don't tell me you actually nuked the termitary ?
>>
>>382561790
I'm aware, I'm referring to his physical body. I was under the impression that Rubin kept the body alive in a freezer for a while before using him to create the vaccine. Does that mean his soul was transferred to the polyhedron before his physical death? Or am I misremembering things?
>>
>>382562764
I think he was alive too
I remember someone saying that he had tampered the lines of his own body to make them similar to Boddoh and become almost immortal
The vaccine was just cells from his body after all

Been wanting to play this game for a while. Is pathologic HD on steam a good way to play the game? I remember reading somewhere that one of the versions isn't so great.
>>
>>382563631
>pathologic HD

Yeah it's the best version, back before the HD version was released pathologics translation from Russian to English was fucking horrible. The HD version fixed that.
>>
>>382563631
Pathologic HD is fine, retranslated.

The original translation was near indecipherable at some points, and the game requires a ton of reading just to understand what's going on.

If you get the game, remember to check your journal and letters, which will be indicated by a symbol appearing in the corner of the screen.
>>
>>382560363
I should retry then. It was m main thing against the game. I don't know, these specific animations were not that shit, they just triggered some uncanny valley thing.

>Is pathologic HD on steam a good way to play the game
Yes, absolutely.
Here's a reminder of the different existing versions, since that always leads to some confusion :

>Pathologic Classic HD
A 2015 re-release of the original game, with better textures, and an entirely new professional translation. If you want to play pathologic for the first time, this is what you use.
>Pathologic (2005)
The main issue here is the russian to english translation, which ranges from "slightly inacurate" to "are we even playing the same game". Since this is a text heavy game, this was quite a problem. I don't even think this version is available anymore, though I have it in my GOG library.
>PATHOLOGIC (2017, hopefully ?)
The upcoming remaster/reboot/reimagining of the original game. Supposedly different enough from the original to count as a different game.
>>
No game creeps me out this much. I can't play it over an hour at a time.
>>
>>382554495

>>
>>382552857
I love this game but got extremely confused as to what the hell was going on as the Bachelor. Im playing the Haruspex now and have a better grip on whats happening but fuck if it isnt still confusing at times. I swear the game lies to you at times.
>>
>>382566241
What is there not to understand? It's pretty simple and you learn where the plague came from during the bachelor playthrough.

Other than that it's just dealing with people, their religion and their customs
>>
>>382566458
No the plague stuff Im prrtty sure of, it was some of the smaller things like the religious customs that kept elluding me
>>
>>382564346
You can still do Haruspex phammy. Avoid Devotress, even the devs said she came out unfinished and shit
>>
>>382566241
>I swear the game lies to you at times
Of course it does
When you are in a town full of plague convincing the doctors to help you even if you need to lie shouldn't surprise you
>>
>>382566241
the game doesn't lie
the characters do

>>382552857

>>
So, is this like a sandbox game ?
>>
>>382570613
Pathologic is a game where you have to choose between following up on promising information or breaking into a house to ransack it for food and medicine. it's a game where you either give a woman some medicine to ease her suffering even though she's terminal anyway or stab a little girl in the face with a scalpel and take some bullets from her body so you can postpone your own death. there's no "moral choices". there's no good or evil. everything's fucked and everything hates you and everyone around you is going to die and the few who don't are going to lie to you and use you and force you to do their shit for them.

you aren't going to have fun. if you're looking for a game that rewards you for doing good, look elsewhere. the most reward you'll get is not being as hungry after you eat some bread, which is important because otherwise you'll die. you get hungry, you get tired, you get sick, your clothes fall apart, your food goes bad, your weapons break, and as the people around you begin to die you scramble to stay one step ahead of the Plague. every second of every day counts, because it's a second you could be spending in any number of ways, and those seconds are seconds not spent doing something equally important somewhere else. all you can do is hope to survive one more day and find a cure, or an answer, or a reason to keep playing.

in an industry where the maturity of a game's story is measured by how many sex scenes it has or how many times "this choice will be remembered" pops up in the corner, Pathologic stands out as an awkward tumor ― awkward because, in spite of its deceptive appearance, it is in fact the only part of that body that has not fallen victim to the cancer.
>>
>>382570363
Sounds interesting, might get it during the sale.
>>
>>382570063
Alright, someone want to tell me about this game and what its doing in this thread?
>>
>>382570789
Don't expect much more than a really immersive walking simulator though
Also don't expect to have fun, the game is not meant to be enjoyable, it is supossed to make you feel stressed over running out of time, money, food and medicine
>>
>>382565217
Really? I find Pathologic very comfy. I like how this game is never trying to be DUDE SPOOPY DISEASE, most people are pleasant and genuinely try to help you, walking around the town at night killing bandits is pleasant work
