What is the best Rayman game?

I would say two but it does get super repetitive. Three was solid all the way through.

Legends

Rayman 1, followed by Rayman Origins

i'd say 2, but 3 is my personal favorite.

2. Replayed it recently and it still holds up really well, minimal collecting and not much filler. I tried playing 3 for the first time recently and stopped after the first level.

Origins is pretty good too unless like me your save corrupts half way.

Kind of surprised to see lots of Legends and Origins as people's faves, honestly I can't pick a favorite because they're all great for their own reasons, Rayman 1 for the music and platforming, 2 for those sanctuary levels you could get yourself lost in, 3 was funny at the time with great combat, Origins and Legends made 2D platforming grand again. Not going to lie, Rabbids Go Home was actually pretty fun too.

For some reason I didn't really feel Legends as much as Origins. Going for 100% in Origins was amazing, but so was the game if you aren't a completionist. The Legends story feels so rushed and half assed, what the fuck was that final boss?

Although I' going to get lot of hate for that, I would skip 1 until you play the others, it's good, but old, hard and honestly quite different than the later ones.
2 was a great 3d platformer, definitely worth a try. 3 was very good as well and improved the gameplay heavily, but while 2 was more fairytale-ish with a serious plot, 3 is more wacky and filled with teenage humour. It's also too damn sort.
As for the newer 2d ones, they're both 100% pure fun, especially with co-op, but great to play alone as well. Definitely try them. I personally prefer Origins to Legends, but they're both great.

Pretty much both. Rayman 2 hasn't aged well. You're basically playing a port of the best console version (dreamcast) and it still isn't that great.

The different platforms versions of R2 have lots of differences, so it's possible, but it might just as well be your shit taste. I have the PC version, loved it then and it's still one of my favourite 3d platformers, regardless of nostalgia glasses.
