I haven't sold my PC, but have basically done the same. I keep it set up in my living room anyway, but I'm happier sitting at a couch playing console games. It's so rare I pick up a PC exclusive now, it's getting rarer that I pick up a multiplat even. The last time I got a PC exclusive was Total Warhammer, which occupied me for all of about 30 hours.

Now I mostly play on my PS4 and Switch. My girlfriend and flatmate play with me a lot on both, and they're better entertaining machines for sure.

Consoles are hassle-free compared to PC and a once-per-8-years investment, while getting the vast majority of multiplats.
All you need for a good PC (browsing and watching porn) is a $100 laptop. At best get a mid-range one if you need it for productivity reasons or if you somehow still want to play bottom of the barrel shit like Dota2, LoL, CSGO, WoW, Overwatch, Hearthstone, etc

Even if PS5 releases in 2020, PS4 will still get the majority of its games (the cross-gen period) for the first year or two, as has been the case for the last couple of gens, and then still get some games for the 3rd year. I don't think investing in any console after the sixth generation is a good idea. "Planned obsolescence" is a real phenomenon, and whether or not it's planned, obsolescence does occur with hardware that involves exponentially complex parts that are prone to inexplicable failures. Enjoy your YLoD / RRoD / DREs / whatever.

If you want to keep up with the current generation of games, you're really better off investing in a gaming PC. A gaming PC is never necessarily obsolete since its components are interchangeable. And if you experience any hardware failures, they're far easier to address than attempting to service a gaming console.

Yeah, I've tried the settings in the catalyst software and never get results im truly happy with. While using my Monitor everything is fine, but the TV just won't have it for some reason.
Refresh rate and resolution where fine too.

Darker colours happen as well. It's hard to explain. Colours are either washed out, or way darker with a weird like... 'bright' kind of filter over everything. It looks like garbage.

my pc's psu died a few months ago, and, for whatever reason, i just couldn't be fucked getting a new one straight away.

it was around the same time as persona 5 coming out, so i decided to grab a second hand ps4 and persona 5 and some other stuff like bloodborne.

i was having a good enough time, but now that i have my pc back in working order, i look at my ps4 like a toy. all the games are 30fps and even stuff like tekken 7 can't hit 1080p.

The hell do you even mean? You can scale the display to be comfortable. Big Picture mode is pretty much made to be used with a controller. You could use a wireless keyboard / mouse or just get USB extension cords or something similar.
