Bout to play Dishonored 2 for the first time. Which character

Just run through as fast as possible as emily so on newgame+ you can play corvo with her powers and become emperor

Jesus christ OP, you're meant to do Clean Hands/Ghost on first run, THEN do the insane rampage.

I'd like to think that Corvo curbs his skills (partly because he's voiced by the Thief guy in this) while the princess is unhinged and more easily slips into a murder-fit

I only do insane rampage because its the only type of playstyle that lets me do anything fun.

I can only remember one part of what happened and that was forcing a guard to shoot himself besides that its just a black void of whirlwind death.

Whatever fits your headcanon. I played Emily on a No-SaveScum attempt for Low Chaos, imagining she'd like to emulate Low Chaos Corvo. 2nd Playthrough is Corvo is old and grumpy.

I like to think this in terms of roleplaying also, but in terms of the skills the two characters get, Emily seems to have been intended for a stealthier playstyle.

Emily has the more offensive powers.

Corvo has the exact same powers from the 1st game with slight upgrades so take that as you will.

I played corvo first and preferred it because of all the time bending extras
