After the brilliance of 2 this was a serious disappointment. World got smaller and with lots of busywork instead of side-quests, there was zero atmosphere, and 99% of the cast were just unlikable cunts, with unironical Poochie as protagonist.

ARMS was pretty disappointing to me. It's still a good game, and I've had my fun with it but it definitely could've been better. For the most part there just wasn't really a lot to do with it, and I get disconnected from the online modes every goddamn time.

First game I preordered since Mafia 2.
Instead of beautiful hand drawn backgrounds like in the first game they tried going full 3D, but ran out of money halfway through development. There literally are unfinished scenes with placeholder models in the final game.

Lost Horizon 1 was fantastic though.

A curious case. It started kinda poor with mediocre TPS, but quickly built speed once vertical combat appeared, and then showed its full potential in the valley level, which is one of the greatest levels I've ever played in vidya, but once it finished it turned to utter shit with its red canyons and I became massively disappointed.

I wonder if companies ever realize they've fucked a good idea into the ground. Sometimes it feels as if they fucked up so hard that they've salted the earth on which the genre exists.

That's how I feel about a lot of video games nowadays. They're just there to make money and nothing else; it's like there's no room to make a good idea, storytelling medium, or gameplay experience immortal. Here's this opportunity to usurp Shakespere, design a modern-day Zeus, or make something that is as lasting as Harry Potter and you fucked it up.

That's how I feel about something like Metal Gear, Halo, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or a Blizzard game. It could have been something that was utterly timeless. It could've been something people would be playing 30 years from now if the fucking corporations were not involved in the development.

Instead new generations of people are going to have fucking Mario, Pokemon, and Minecraft not because they're good but for reasons that are too many to explain. Even a game like Witcher 3 or Bayonetta no matter how good they are they're ultimately going to be forgotten.
