As much as people hate the game, I enjoyed it and it holds a special place in my heart. Have a lot of great memories of playing through it with some friends at launch.

At the end of the day, DaS2 turned out to be the most fun to play. While DaS3 is literallya recycled DaS1 with shitty PvP and netcode

Still think it introduced a good happy-medium in terms of the penalty to dying compared to the previous games.
>DeS reduced you to half health for pretty much your entire playthrough, unless you wore a specific ring to bump it up to 75%
>DaS had practically no penalty, and there was little reason to not stop being Hollow unless you wanted to PVP
>DaS II chips a little health away each time you die, meaning the penalty's greater the more you suck and makes you think more carefully about when to burn an effigy

Same here, despite its flaws I still put 100+ hours with multiple playthroughs and builds. Few games offer anywhere near that.

All the games are like this, it's how Fromsoft code their hit detection.

Hitboxes linger slightly during roll/dodge animations, more-so online, and i-frames are only active for the mid portion of them. The garbage engine they use can't support one to one collision detection. This is why anybody remotely experienced in Souls games rolls directly THROUGH attacks.
