no. games are permanently ruined. i'm not biased by nostalgia when i say it's a matter of fact that people back then played for fun. they were playing like it was a videogame. esports and youtube fucked everything over and now any game you play has a bunch of fucking losers playing it like a call of duty jeep is on the line, using builds they saw on youtube, camping spots they saw on youtube or whatever it is. playing like their lives are on the line. and just being halfway decent means the skill-based matchmaking sticks you with these types in every goddamned match. you actually can't enjoy competitive mp any more outside of a couple exceptions

You need aim assist in order for first person controls to not be ass on a controller, I don't get the drama over this. Even with aim assist, aiming with analog sticks is more difficult then it is with a mouse, so there's not really a skillgap concern.

Halo 3's biggest failing was the sharp drop in map design quality.
