Best side quests, no doubt. Retarded leveling system, I hated that major and minor skills.

it's more casualized then Morrowind but also not nearly as polished as Skyrim(as polished as bethsda gets anyways)


The combat is weightless and terrible, the loot and enemy system is busted(bandits with full glass armor, every enemy scaled up to an ogre that you can barely kill at higher difficulties)


the leveling system is awful and inefficient, not to mention confusing and leads to you having an underpowered character unless you metagame with beforehand knowledge


Magic makes every other playstyle pointless. you can make a spell that perfectly performs any function a warrior, theif, etc style character does


Pick any lock with a single spell, become 100% undetectable and literally run past all enemies and steal things from right in front of people's faces, raise any of your stats to 100 to become good at melee combat, raise your agility and speed for superspeed foot travel, etc etc etc


Magic in oblivion is horrific because it makes any other playstyle totally redundant.

Oblivion playtime lifecycle:

>Realize the gameplay is still bland because everything scales and there's no progression
>Get bored and stop playing
>Repeat several months later

I liked the Oblivion leveling system, personally.
You have a huge amount of flexibility whether you want to just ignore stat management completely and just play, or whether you want to micromanage the whole thing in a spreadsheet for completely optimal leveling, and you actually get a worthwhile bonus from how much interest you take in the leveling system.

The problem is not with the concept per se, the problem is how easy it is to gimp your character, especially since you cannot simply outlevel your enemies because of level scaling. The other problem is how easy it is to metagame and exploit the system if you know how it works. Neither approaches make for fun gameplay.

Good thing you can at least fix these problems with mods these days.

Never played morrowind but I personally found oblivion more fun than skyrim. Then again it could just be the nostalgia goggles talking since i haven't played it in like 5 years.

The fact that guy created a 5 hour long video talking about Oblivion while clearly reading from a script, which meant he would have had to spend weeks writing it and then putting that video together

Or the fact he thinks anybody is going to watch a 5 hour video. If your going to do a retrospective if it's over 30 minutes I refuse to watch, there is no way I am wasting my time listening to one persons babbling for 5 hours on a video game made over 10 years ago. Ideally the video's should be under 20. If you can't sum up your shit enough for a 20 minute video (which is plenty of time) you shouldn't be creating content on youtube. Listening to that guys bland talking for 5 hours would be brutal, there is no emotion or enthusiasm whatsoever in that voice.

He needs to make a bunch of bullet points and talk based on those, not read off every single word he wrote for 5 hours straight.
