there is no debate.

I have never once seen anyone discuss Horizon at all since there's fuck-all to discuss about the game, about all you can do is fawn over the pretty graphics. BotW ain't perfect but it at least has substance worth talking about.

I played Zelda on launch and played Horizon like a month ago. I have no idea how there's even any fucking debate between the two. Horizon is a very good take on the open world genre, and it bored me to tears. Zelda feels like a whole new fucking thing. The way it engenders and rewards the desire to explore is on a completely different level. BotW's open world makes all other open worlds seem like trash by comparison.

Horizon if you like pretty graphics
BotW if you like everything else and don't mind shit graphics (BotW is a great game but it looks like SHIT)

Horizon wishes it was Breath of the Wild. It looks pretty, that's all it has going for it.

BotW's water-color style still looks great though and you can take it anywhere. It wins in every other category easily. That said, Horizon is still a solid game. Just not a classic.

Horizon is two years too late to even stand a chance. It's archaic on every aspect and doesn't even offer real open world, just hubs and empty corridors. No physics, no interaction with the environment, AI that resets. It's just mediocre. I can see people playing "for the story" and "see the robot dinos" but that's it.
