I worked for their Customer Service phoneline over xmas last year. They have some shitty practices. But it also gave me an insight into the shit they deal with.

I got fired for arguing with a customer. Shitbag wanted to refund headphones which in it's own right isn't a problem, but they were used which invalidates the refund policy.

He claimed they didn't work on his console, with a shitty 3rd party xbone controller. The store that he was calling from had tested them on official hardware and found them fine.

Naturally he demanded to speak to a manager. This is where the practices start getting shitty. No matter how much a customer screams and whines, GAME only give callbacks from managers. Never on the live floor, and never on the customer's terms. The callbacks also have to be approved by the manager that will be taking it, so if the manager doesn't like the case then the answer will be no, kicking it back to the agent (me).

Compound this with issues like the warehouse 'misplacing' a few hundred NES minis and giving customers only 24 hours to call and claim them them when the stock arrives or lose their preorder and things start to suck major cock.

Same with PSVR units. We sat on thousands of them in our warehouse when the stores were out of stock.

Speaking of warehouse, they lose shit all the time, with a 24 hour response time from them. Same with the couriers, only it's a 72 hour wait you have to give them.

Also nothing warms the heart more than having some shithead wishing your death on xmas day because they bought FIFA premium points for the Xbox 360 instead of the Xbone, with a no refund policy on digital codes.

And on digital codes, GAME got into a spat with Nintendo. They sent shitloads of expired 3DS and Wii U digital codes, but refused to give customers reference numbers to get refunds stating that it's GAME's responsibility to check valid codes, not them.

At least I have the fun memories of that guy who ordered 60 copies of Goat Simulator.

To non-britbongs, this is essentially Recommended-Retail-Price: The Shop. There are very rarely actual good offers.

It has almost no redeeming qualities beyond being a physical shop with the occasional midnight release/preorder ''bonus''.

Throughout the entire period of the Famine, Ireland was exporting enormous quantities of food. In the magazine History Ireland, Christine Kinealy, a Great Hunger scholar, lecturer, and Drew University professor, relates her findings: Almost 4,000 vessels carried food from Ireland to the ports of Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, and London during 1847, when 400,000 Irish men, women, and children died of starvation and related diseases. The most shocking export figures concern butter. Butter was shipped in firkins, each one holding 9 imperial gallons; 41 litres. In the first nine months of 1847, 56,557 firkins (509,010 imperial gallons; 2,314,000 litres) were exported from Ireland to Bristol, and 34,852 firkins (313,670 imperial gallons; 1,426,000 litres) were shipped to Liverpool, which correlates with 822,681 imperial gallons (3,739,980 litres) of butter exported to England from Ireland during nine months of the worst year of the Famine. The problem in Ireland was not lack of food, which was plentiful, but the price of it, which was beyond the reach of the poor.

The historian Cecil Woodham-Smith wrote in The Great Hunger: Ireland 1845–1849 that no issue has provoked so much anger and embittered relations between England and Ireland "as the indisputable fact that huge quantities of food were exported from Ireland to England throughout the period when the people of Ireland were dying of starvation."

Well there's a number of factors, but it comes down to the poor pay rates paid to us by the NHS. We get paid around £19 for an hour of care or support, of which £9.35 plus 45p per mile if travel goes to the carer. Out of the rest we fund our office staff.

Also, we pool the rest of our money and give our employees shares in the company once a year, and around £300-£450 twice a year in bonuses, as a thank you to our employees.
