Well, perhaps you shouldn't have been a special snowflake and chosen the more optimal and involved shaman playstyle of purging, shocking, throwing down totems and casting an occasional heal and enable a warrior to charge in and global squishies with windfury since they might actually be able to close the distance.

Not that vanilla PvP is good. TBC has pretty much all the nuance vanilla had then some, with better balance and gear that allows defences to scale up with damage (as opposed to high-end geared players globaling each other because the only available gear increases damage but well-itemized pieces would often have less stamina: warlock T1 for example has 180 stamina and T3 minus ring has 198, but damage is doubled). Even in WotLK you mostly have things like stance dancing left although at that point the style of PvP is very much different.

Anyone who thinks TBC PvP was good probably didn't even play it, resilience made healers so unkillable that the only way to kill them was to stun them for 10 seconds with back to back stunherald/mace spec procs.

Not enough to global equivalently geared players by a long shot. You usually still CAN burst players down (and top-end geared players might be able to global low-end PvE-geared players, which is fine) but not global like that, the balance in that regard is pretty much ideal.

If anything, the biggest problem in TBC was some individual 2vs2 matchups lasting ~forever because you couldn't really stop healers from drinking or kill their partner during that time, but that's several comps out of many viable ones, in one arena bracket out of three, and in one form of PvP (neither battlegrounds or unorganized PvP had such problems). Otherwise mana is an adequate limiting resource (for healers but for other classes as well: for example, mage vs warrior is obviously 80-20 favoured to mages, but unlike vanilla, warriors actually have a fighting chance by trading their health against mage's mana)
