It's something the XIV team do all the time. Remember the Final Steps of Faith and the Estinienhogg phase? The very next patch, that same Estinien type enemy was reused as the add for A11. Then the patch after that, the enemy type was reused again as the add in the Scathach fight. It gets pretty distracting when you start noticing how much gets re-used in this game. You'll fight the same enemy type, just with a quick model swap on it. Like Pepsiman and his fiery cousin in Gubal HM.

You can buy all story/leveling potions to skip right into SB if you want, but honestly depending on how dedicated you are to the game you might be able to save money by just playing it.

If you find someone to recruit you you'll get some items to help with leveling and gearing up. Also try to join a FC that constantly runs an EXP aboost and I think the experience gained below lvl 60 has been increased. So if you're willing to trudge through a lot of story and running around, you probably can make it into SB in a month or so if not sooner.

A guy in our FC was able to complete the HW content from 3.1 to SB within a weekend. Granted this was with skipping all optional content. Frankly going through ARR is going to take the most time because there's literally about 100 quests to do in MSQ before you even touch HW.

Samurais that hit 5k parses are people who are being trophy parsed. All eggs in 1 samurai basket. If you ever go on YouTube and see Samurai SSS, know that a lot of them are cherry picked with a shit ton of crits and direct hits. As long as you do your rotation correctly, you're fine.

Main Story Quest is nothing short of tedious.

Literally everywhere you go it's a bunch of fetch quests and the moment shit ACTUALLY starts to happen you move to a new area and the cycle repeats.

I'm close to lvl 67 now and it's happened like 3 or 4 times already. I'm hoping there will eventually be a payoff, but so far I'm sceptical.

Loss of Blood Price generation is made up for by Syphon Strike literally giving double MP in Grit. You can DA on EVERY combo. It's an intentional means of curbing DRK's AoE supremacy because before Blood Price essentially meant they got more MP than they could even spend on a big pull.

Enmity generation on Quietus isn't even necessary because Abyssal Drain spam is still highly possible and it gives you more enmity than you could ever lose. My only issue with Quietus is that it feels wimpy as hell and there's no reason to DA it when your MP is better spent on more Abyssal Drains. And also that you get it before Bloodspiller. DRK feels like an incomplete job until 68 just because of retarded ability distribution.

I don't get why they made Bloodspiller the same as Fell Cleave but Quietus is so much weaker than Decimate. It's like when they were designing the new skills they thought DRK's AoE would be too strong but then later in development they nerfed Blood Price and Passenger but didn't buff Quietus to compensate. It just feels out of place.

It's reasonably balanced considering the rest of DRK's kit. Abyssal Drain alone is probably the best AoE spam skill among tanks, and they have Salted Earth on top of that which is also strong as fuck. Quietus just feels unnecessary.

Dark Passenger is garbage tier now because it costs the same as a DA. Abyssal Drain is more MP efficient for AoE, and just a regular Dark Arts + Syphon/Souleater will add more potency if the slashing debuff is up. Dark Passenger only feels worth using when there's exactly 2 enemies. Not enough for Abyssal Drain to be worth using, but enough to make Dark Passenger better than a regular Dark Arts.

And it's never worth Dark Artsing since Blind is a really weak effect.

That you don't even understand this suggests that you probably shouldn't be looking anywhere near the upper 50% of parses for projecting your own DPS.

Also, being an "above average" player doesn't mean you will get high-tier parses, because fflogs only calculates its rankings based on the reports it receives, and it typically only receives reports from people who are actively looking to do good DPS. Basically, EVERYONE on fflogs is "above average" when compared to the general playerbase, even the ones in the very low percentiles.

You can see this very clearly by looking at parses for content that includes pubs, like 24-man raids. A parse that might only be 20th percentile in a real savage raid environment will probably be like 90th percentile when compared to the vast hordes of shitters you encounter in DF.

The patch stories will probably focus on rebuilding Ala Mhigo and Doma. I don't know what they might do for an antagonist. the 2.X patches did not really have an overarching story boss like Nidhogg, it was just "primal of the week" type shit. I suspect eventually it will eventually lead into a Garlemald expansion for 5.0 where we'll finally wipe out the empire for good.
