This. Once you learn the pattern the boss is mostly harmless. You take damage by trying to avoid both the blobs and the boss.
Kill the blobs first so you have room to dodge when needed and you're set.

I wish people stopped defending the White Palace. It is just bad design in a game that did nothing to prepare you for it. The Colosseum of Fools wasn't that bad because the game taught you all of the skills you need to beat it throughout its course.

I've been trying to 100% this game for a few days, but I've been stuck on the Soul Tyrant, Trial of Fools, and final boss (Radiance). I thought I'd try again using strategies from this thread. It's just kind of boring. I had an easy enough time using Hiveblood, but I was really excited to explore something like the Abyss or Queen's Gardens because they're cool locations. White Palace is a weird recolored City of Tears that's just twenty rooms of sawblades. For me the most difficult parts were.
Trial of Fools > Soul Tyrant > Fallen Champion > Lost Kin > Radiance

Radiance's moveset isn't that bad to deal with as long as you take it calmly and it isn't as fast as the former three bosses (Champion and Kin in particular or Tyrant's second form not giving you time to heal at all) or a fucklong survival challenge like Fools. It just hits like a truck which is remedied with the focus speed and double heal on focus charms.

Failed Champion was cake, patterns are super easy to read. Stand against the wall and the barrels won't hit you. Dive underneath then whack in the jump phase and back off for the shockwaves.
Lost Kin was also pretty easy with Defender's Crest to AoE the spawns and then just I-frame cheese him.
Soul Tyrant was probably the most 'challenging' but gives you a huge healing window and the rest is just patience.

Every time after playing for about 40-50 minutes game crashes and pc restarts by itself. Is it a heating problem? I've been running speccy and it shows an average 67 degrees on the graphics and usually before the crash course is around 62-67 degrees (AMD FX-8350), I assume that when it crashes it's hotter

That does sound like an over heating issue. CPU or Graphics Card, either one would cause it, though it would be strange that only Hollow Knight would be causing this for you. Are you having problems in other games? The threshold for PC force shutting down on temp should also be way higher then the mid 60s. I've had my CPU go up to 90 before that kicked in.

It's hard to figure out what actually progresses you in this game. In Super Metroid, it's obvious. You beat bosses and go to the statue. I imagine in Hollow Knight, from what I've played so far, you have to go to that black temple or whatever, but there are so many different types of bosses, hard to say which are optional or what. I'm guessing those three that got listed on my map are the main bosses, haven't visited any yet.

Yes, it will lead you to the source of the infection. Doing that as soon as you can will give you an ending. Doing side stuff will eventually lead you to another ending. If you beat the game and then reload it will put you just outside the final boss. So if you want to do side stuff after, you should.

I really liked Axiom Verge. I played it during a time when I was really thirsty for a new Metroid game and it did a pretty good job satisfying that thirst. But I do think that Hollow Knight is a lot better. More fun, memorable and atmospheric.

Maybe I'm just not in the right mood for this game, but I haven't really been able to get into it. The combat works fine but just isn't very fun imo and running around the map gets tiring especially if you're not sure where to use your new gadget or ability to progress.

The difficulty is hyped way up more than it actually is. There are a few cheap bosses, but the options to strengthen your character are wide and varied and there are plenty of places to heal. The only real "Souls-like" comparison is losing your cash if you die on the way back to the place that you died (and a marginally cryptic plot if you don't pay attention at all), otherwise it's a pretty standard metroidvania. Still, it has tons more content than Ori, which I loved, and tricks you into a feeling of great accomplishment on the few times you will get stuck on a boss/area and then finally get past them.

Going to Soul Sanctum and Deepnest for the first time are the only real difficulty spikes, and even then they become pretty standard with a single skill upgrade.

Also the story was left kind of open-ended / sequel hook. In the true epilogue you discover that Trace wasn't returned to Earth at all and it's likely a dream created by Veruska. Considering Athetos outright said he couldn't tell you his true motivations because the Rusalki would simply kill you, Axiom Verge 2 is probably about discovering how Athetos was actually dindu and the Rusalki will be the final bosses.

Alright, I'll bite. The platforming is more fast paced. Ori travels faster and it's more fun in general to traverse the world smoothly, while Hollow Knight is slower and more combat-focused. Hollow Knight is sometimes more tedious when you want to travel the world and explore. Platforms are often placed in a way where you have to stop and jump up to the next one, and it has to be a more precise jump that often wastes your time more than it actually challenges your skill.
There are platforming sections where you need to be precise, similar to Super Meat Boy, but these are usually just standard wall jump and dash things. It's more fun to bash and jump around a spike-filled area instead of making sure a pixel of your character doesn't touch a spike in a more trial and error sort of sense.
This is just my opinion and I again want to go on the record to say that Hollow Knight is actually a superior Metroidvania still because there's more to the genre than platforming.

Not that guy but if he's playing with the default nail I kind of get it. I didnt know how to upgrade until really far into the game. And once I did I stockpiled a decent amount of geo and ores so I was able to come back with the level 2 or 3 one and beat it on my first try. Bosses are all about patterns.

Assuming you already know the map fairly well from previous playthroughs, try and rack up mask shards asap as well as getting fragile strength as soon as you can get to leg eater. Also upgrade the nail as soon as you can.
Since you can't revive in this mode, Jiji is replaced by a large steel statue thing that will trade your eggs for a lot of geo, around 700~800 each. So if you have at least two eggs by the time you can buy the first simple key, you can already get a return on your investment and gain a bunch of money rapidly for upgrades as you go.
Once you get 6 charm slots, throw on mark of pride, and at 9 slots add quick slash, with fragile strength these three abilities will let you tear though most of the game.
