you do realize morridoom has some of the most strategic play style you can have in umvc3?

zoning is actually shit when characters have the ability to kill you in 1 combo, when someone plays morrigan, they give up 1 hit kill potential for controlling mobility options of the opponent as well as force them to eat mix ups under the support of projectiles. the game goes from fishing for hit confirms to space control and mobility. theres plenty of morridooms out there but they never ever make top 8 and chrisg for the most part is literally the only notable player using morrigan. If anything, his dominating skillful play dulled the scene more than his character choices, and he won evo literally only once so its not like he obliterated his competition to a point where all the surprise is gone. I tried playing morridoom and i usually have more success playing characters with easy get in hit confirms like Nova, with morridoom, one bad unfly can get you killed and that shit is easy as hell to happen against rush down characters that can get under and behind you since your inputs direction gets reversed easily

That's not to say that Sonic Fox isn't one of the best fighting game players out there. But he hasn't really gone in on any games where there's a serious contingent

Calling him the most talented is a reach, calling him the best NRS player sure, but he doesn't play anything else and win. He'll pick up a game and then drop it once he knows he can't win in it. He doesn't touch SFV, tekken, marvel not because he can't play them but because he knows he won't win in them. He'll still be good at them just not dominate like he is in NRS games.

Chris G is the only person i can think of that plays EVERYTHING and places pretty high in every game, Justin Wong used to do this as well but he hasn't been doing as well lately.

honestly man, people complain about morridoom when just spamming fire balls is actually really shit and easy to avoid with super jumps. chrisg has some of the cleanest hit confirms and conversions off of stray rocket hits and stray soul fists to maximize damage, which is way harder than getting a 1 hit kill combo with armored ground bounce move or dive kicks
