Zelda DLC Too soon?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Anyone playing hero mode? Of so, Why? Aren't you burnt out of Zelda? You just finished a 100 hour game one or two months ago and now you want to play the same game again just with the same easy enemies that are slightly less easy?
>>
>>382386034
I'm waiting for the second DLC before I buy it. Hard mode sounds awful and the trial is semi-interesting but not THAT interesting. Right now I just want a dungeon that's actually well-designed, aesthetically/thematically unique, lengthy, and really makes good use of BotW's mechanics. No idea if Nintendo will actually deliver.
>>
is OP autistic?
>>
I am, because I waited for hard mode to play it.

>>
>>382386774
It is easy, but the enemies takes 1/3 or all your HP in one hit. It is artificial.
>>
>>382386034
The game has huge replayability. A run can last 90 hours as it can last 5.
>>
If hard mode doesn't disable Flurry Rush then it'll be useless. They can't add more enemies to mobs because the game already tanks with the standard, maybe they can increase their movement so they can keep up at a brisk pace and actually be threatening?

>inb4 they just do more damage
>>
>>382387261
Generally speaking there needs to be quality content to be worth replaying. Amount of content is meaningless, Sean Murray proved that.

How pathetic do you have to be to go on a egyptian camel breeding forum to convince strangers they shouldn't play a game they already beat and clearly like
>>
>>382386034
>Aren't you burnt out of Zelda?
No. I'll happily play through the best game of all time a second time. Plus, it can take as much time as you want depending on what you do. Skip all the side quests and doing only the main story is more like 30-40 hours.
>>
>>382387630
But you just finished it. Are you going to play it over a third time when the rest of the dlc comes out too?
>>
>>382387735
DLC pack 2 is not a new mode
>>
>>382387735
>But you just finished it.
Not really. That was 4 months ago. If there was any other game out right now that was as great as Zelda I'd play that but there isn't.
>>
>>382386034
What if you were to give this game to, say, twenty... intelligent people i mean, what would that do? Let's face it what would it do?
>>
>>382386034

I only played an hour and put it on the shelf

I thought the game was amazing, I'm just not in the mood for Zelda right now and I'm not going to ruin a potential 10/10 by forcing myself through it

Does the harder difficulty literally just make the monsters even bigger damage sponges or do the monsters get better at fighting/behave differently?
>>
>>382388319
I think they confirmed that enemies are way better at spotting you now, making stealth harder, but that's pretty much it
>>
So no one has really explained the appeal of starting a really long game over right after finishing it because of a slight difficulty increase.

There are so many good games, Why not just play something new
>>
>>382388319
>>382388538
Certain enemy locations have been changed as well - there's a Lynel on the Great Plateau, and Bokoblins can appear on Octoballoon-lifted platforms above lakes.
>>
>>382386034
I've yet to play is precisely because I was waiting for this and the other DLC.
>>
>>382388587
There is no objective answer to that.
Some people are just in the mood for Zelda
>>
>>382388829
It just makes no sense. Who is Nintendo Making this for?

Remember that game you just milked every drop out of cause you loved it and you've done litterally everything fun?

Well do it all again a month later, but now you have to eat three more meals to survive and the fight lasts five minutes longer.

Only 19.99

Honestly, I'm not breaking my neck to play hard mode. If they added more enemy variety, yes. And no, the golden lynel isn't enough for me.

Now, if they added gold variants of the minibosses, maybe I'll look into it. The second DLC pack doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for, either. Oh well. Ninety hours is good for a game, I guess.
>>
>>382389256
As much as I love BOTW I have to agree with this. Starting over after putting 150 hours into the game, exhausting the entire map, doing every shrine, doing every sidequest, filling the compendium, and getting 300 korok seeds is just not going to happen. The trial of the sword is not worth $20.
>>
Nintendo dropped the ball on this dlc
>>
>>382388319

>>
>>382389964

>>
>>382393028
Everything just takes so many hits and I keep running out of resources.. It's not that fun.
>>
>>382386034
If I'm paying the same price no matter what and not getting the full DLC package until the holidays then I'm not even gonna touch this shit until then.

So it's not "too soon" for me.
I do feel like this will hurt the game's reputation in the general public though.
If you had all those 10/10 reviewers revisit the game and get their asses handed to them by this wonky hard mode, they might have a less positive view of the game when it comes to GOTY season.
>>
>>382393291
then dont charge in and spam weapon attacks? the first blue enemy for instance dies instantly if you lit the torch and hit him once, so right out of the gate the game tries to teach you that master mode is different than normal mode.
>>
Honestly the game has very little replay value if you 100% it in you first run like I did. I love the game but I won't replay it anytime soon, the only thing that could have brought me back was that Hard mode had significant gameplay changes. Like hunger, thirst, can't pause to heal, new enemy movesets etc. But the DLC is just horde mode + even more sponges which isn't really that cool.
>>

I'll do the master sword quest. I'll get the new outfits. Runs around exploring a little bit. I won't do hard mode any time soon. This will be a nice revisit since I haven't played the game any in about a month and a half. Not really worth twenty dollars. But the game is so great anything to give it life is fine. >Anyone playing hero mode?
not yet, buying in approximately 3 hours

>why?
Because it's the first game in years that I've played through twice in a row (over 250 hours total)
without feeling burned out to the point that I need to wait more than 2-3 months to pick it back up.
Something I haven't felt after finishing a Zelda game since Majora's Mask.

>Aren't you burnt out?
After my second any% playthrough (3 heart run) I decided to put the game down for a month to play other games
such as ARMS, Snipperclips, Mighty Gunvolt, Blaster Master Zero, MK8D, Thumper,
Snake Pass, Shovel Knight, Puyo Puyo, Kamiko, Graceful Explosion Machine and Fast RMX
and even inbetween playing those games I still had an itch to boot up Zelda again and just fuck around doing probably next to nothing productive.
That alone convinced me I'd probably enjoy a third playthrough if it was at least different.

>You just finished a 100 hour game one or two months ago and now you want to play the same game again
I've been playing Mario 64 for about 20 years and have been replaying that game almost once every few months
there are just games that I feel have this sort of lasting appeal.
BotW is at least up there for me since the mechanics alone make the game fun to play even when just playing it like a toy
and just neglecting the actual game part. Mario 64 does that to me every time I pick it up.

>with the same easy enemies that are slightly less easy?
I want to play the game in hard mode, do the shrine challenge thing that's added to the game,
check out the extra side missions the expansion pass adds to begin with, check out how much the added difficulty affects how well I do in the shrines
and most of all I heard enemies like the lynels and camps are much more difficult than in normal mode.

Sounds worth it to me, OP.
I hope you have a good day.
>>
>>382396741
Except DS has miles of depth and you can never experience it the same way twice?
>>
>>382386034
I have the expansion pass but I only just finished the third divine beast so I'm just going to save the DLC quests for the postgame
>>
>>382396741
The world in DS is not nearly as big and the game has 100 times more depth to its mechanics than BotW.
>>
>>382398390
These DLC quests are to give you items that will help you along the way, so there's no real reason to leave them for last. The story DLC will be out later this year.

Is anyone enjoying the new DLC?

Coming from the Witcher 3, Dark Souls and Bloodbornes DLC and Nintendo need to just stop making DLC altogether if this is what they consider worthwhile.

>A literal difficulty mode that only makes the game more tedious (Regenerating health and damage sponge enemies only makes it pointless fighting them because your weapons will break before you even kill them)

The Master quest challenge was decent I guess but way to short.

Yeah, exactly. Run from everything. It completely changes the game. I mean, I guess that's a plus if you're tired of playing the original game, but I can't say that this is necessarily good because of how tedious it is. And it's not like the stealth in this game is that well designed either

So can you save during the Sword trail at any point or do you have to marathon the whole thing?

didn't they say in an interview thats how they designed the world? they built the basic map, let staff play it and run around with the tracking on and then using that data starting filling the world with things to find and do based on where people would instinctively go and explore
>>
>>382410539
It's broken up into three sets (with each having more and more floors). When you clear through one of these sets you go back to the forest and can then continue to the next one whenever you feel like it.

During the trial itself you can't save at all. Die and you'll have to start the whole set you're on over.

Hero mode is all about knowing what fights to pick. You don't want to figth that Lynel, because it's not worth it, you have to run away, you can't win, you have to become stronger so you can become the hero, and until then, you'll suffer like the little bitch you are. You're no longer a one man army, but you need to become one, and that takes guts and hard work.

I just got my Switch and thus just started this game, so answer my few questions:

1. What makes you guys think this game looks good? I mean, the art style is nice and the vistas are great but everything has this super gross bloom-like effect that hurts my eyes when I play.
2. I just got to the village with the old woman who shit out exposition at me and told me to go to a different village. Is what I've played so far representative of the entire game or does it pick up?
3. I read in a review that you can actually just paraglide to Calamity Ganon and try to beat the game without any non-mandatory upgrades. Is this true, and is it possible to actually win the game no-exploits by just fighting Ganon perfectly?
4. Does every weapon break when it kills one enemy or is that just early game shit?
5. Are all dungeons as short as the ones I did in the Plateau? Or are dungeons something else entirely?

This is my first Zelda game, if that helps.

1. You get used to it.
2. Does not represent the rest of the game. The rest of the game is basicly: Locate town marker on map, explore towers and shrines on the way, do stable sidequests and korok quests when you meet them, find town, remove ganon influence from the towns divine beast, do town sidequests, go on to the next town.
3. You can, but its very hard if you havent played the game before.
4. Early game shit for the most part.
5. Those are shrines, not dungeons. After you've done 20 of them, they feel like filler content, but still fun sometimes.

Wouldn't it be best in Master Mode to get Majora's Mask immediately?

Neat, 135 hours of progress and still tons of places I haven't been to

I find grabbing the phantom armor pieces is the best head start.
>>
>>382411850
The only thing decent waiting for you after the plateau are the vistas and a few towns. The game is padded to hell and back with shrines that all look and feel the same, and korok seeds.
Combat is almost always a waste of time.
>>
>>382411850
Why not just play the game? I don't see what spoiling anything for yourself will accomplish besides just shitposting.
>>
>>382412946
But with the mask you can evade bokoblins and lizalfos and stuff.
>>
>>382413257
Yeah, it's good for that.

I put around 20 in and I was confident I'd seen all it had to offer.

When are they going to add Pro HUD that keeps mini-map?

Being able to see my tracks of Day 1 is the best, before I looked anything up or tried to progress I just wandered aimlessly without a clue.

This feature really should be in every open world game from now on

I honestly didn't expect it to be able to track my past progress.

Is there anything which will make me enjoy the game more? I'm playing for the first time and finding it to be like a 5/10. I was hoping it would pick up with the first Divine Beast but found that underwhelming again.

I wish I had researched this beforehand because I hate open world games. I just assumed it would be normal Zelda which I always loved.

What gave you that assumption? lol
>>
>>382414554
Because every Zelda game has been more or less the same shit for over thirty years.
>>
>>382414554
Because I didn't research it obviously. Zelda has just been Zelda.

fair enough. Maybe I watched too much promo material leading up to release to know that it was going to be a completely different game. I just think it's weird to not at least watch a bit of the gameplay before buying a full price game but whatever

Probably bait, but my answer is still the same.

Just play the fucking game to find out why. Because that sentence alone proves you don't know what you are blabbering about.

It's interesting to see people say Zelda is easy but when you watch their progress they die constantly. But yeah, it's really cool to see your progress throughout the game. I thought I wouldn't care about it but it's fascinating.
>>
>>382417793
to be fair I spent most of the early game in places I shoudn't be with only 3 hearts.
