XCOM is a game in which you can have a sniper 2ft from an enemy, at an elevated position with a scope for extra accuracy and a perk for the same, with 94% chance of hitting the enemy
and miss.
And then the enemy can get a free attack on you, which causes a teammate to go mad, shoot another teammate so that he goes mad, who then shoots you, etc.
In one turn, from a perfect position, you can lose 2-3 of your guys to the RNG gods.

It barely matters, XCOM2 happens in the "what if the player lost the war in XCOM:EU" timeline, you'd be missing a few references to the characters in EU. I'd still recommend you get XCOM:EU first, to get used to the gameplay and universe. Get 2 if you enjoy it

Heck yes. I had more fun using the keyboard then the controler and I grew up with the ps1 n ps2 games. Feel so tight and perfect, specially for turning around corners and shit, you can remap the other buttons to near the WASD so you can even play with one hand while you use the other to do whatever you want. The new DOOM is pretty fun, but I don't think it's all that long. Most people only beat it once and it clocks at around like 12ish hours.

It's not Quake levels of fast but it's a tight game with a decent play time if you're a completionist. I liked the feel of all the weapons though some mods were clearly better than others. XCOM involves a lot of skill. It's a risk assessment and probability management game. It's all about giving your team the best chances to perform and preemptively taking bad results into consideration.

Batman runs much better although the FPS still dips by about 10-20 when using the Batmobile. Although make sure you have atleast 2 GB of VRAM on your GPU.
Divinity is fun but much better with friends since they can help you solve quests (they really don't hold your hand)
Also This War of Mine is meh it's charm runs out fast in my opinion, not really worth buying but up to you since it's £2.99.

Lightning Returns was one of the most "meh" experiences I ever had with a game (very similar to Resident Evil movies). The game is not "bad", but everything (combat, world and how you explore it, the retarded amount of not-exactly-optional sidequests, the equipment system) is depressingly mediocre and disappointing compared to similar games (even if you expect nothing from it, since the introduction area will build a bit of hype for a short moment then the main game will deliver nothing but disappointment). Plus you are basically playing "someone else's waifu" dress up simulator, since Lightning is a boring character and most of the time if feels that she is already bored of the game itself and is hoping that you will stop playing and uninstall it at some point.
No opinions on XIII-2, but I heard that it is somewhat than XIII and Lightning Returns.
I heard that the enchanted versions of Baldur's Gate games are actually worse the the modded originals in some ways, but I never played them to confirm it.

It is, I agree. But my playtime in Gungeon was mostly spent using the starting pistols because the good stuff was super rare and everything else was was than them. Was really offputting having to slog through levels as basic enemies progressively took more shots to kill because of the health scaling. It's not a terrible game, but I'd think the average person would get a lot more mileage from Isaac if they're not familiar with the stylings of the "roguelite genre" yet. When I want to pick up and play a quick run of a "roguelite" I don't want it to take 1+ hours which Gungeon certainly can take.

You can, but it's not enjoyable in the slightest to whittle down a boss with basic tears, or god forbid even weaker than basic tears. In Gungeon you're guaranteed to get some guns, and there aren't quite as many bad guns/items as there are in Isaac.

Gungeon has saving so it's not like you need to play the entire thing in one go. You can also mitigate the 'no gunz' problem by playing the Bullet, Hunter, or Pilot.
Isaac has the same problem, especially with the DLC adding enemies that have much more health than normal enemies for no reason.

Gungeon can really fuck you on weapons, and you need good ones if you're going to have any fun playing the game. Isaac is better about that and at least lets you use bombs.
I have a bunch of problem with gungeons insanely terrible balancing but the underlying gameplay is fun, at least.

It's styled like an old school dungeon crawler mixed with pokemon, not really like a VN in terms of dialog being all you ever do. It goes like this- play for 5 minutes with random encounters, try to catch new monster girls, 1 minute of dialog, repeat, then a boss. Some floors are mazes, lots of hidden secrets and routes, etc. If you like the art, it's worth at least a pirate.

Crusader HD is considered the best by many because it focuses on the series strength which is castle vs castle skirmishes. The economy missions aren't that good.

If you're new to JRPGs there's no reason you can't play through the classics. I haven't played enough to give a definitive recommendation, but you can just look up the best of lists and emulate whichever ones look interesting.
