I really REALLY hope these are the Special Stages. We need a good Special Stage. Imagine these in full, smooth, 3D and crazier special effects.

this. theyve been teasing us with Mania's 3D elements. (the title screen's rotating island, the 3D wireframe of the special stage ring)

and just the simple fact that Sonic hopped on the 3D bandwaggon super early. every sonic game since 1 has tried to incorporate 3D into the special stages somehow. 2's halfpipes were sprite based 3D, 3's were as well, but CD had actual rotating 3D stages. (even if they were basically flat) and Knuckles Chaotix had those 3D polygon half pipes

we also know that Sonic Xtreme, had it actually happened, would have had 3D stages, where all the objects are prerendered or sprite based, but the bosses themselves were going to be polygon based 3D models.

i'd be disappointed if Mania didnt play with 3D somehow for it's special stages

Never really liked Mario games and their formula. I literally do not understand why the games are praised all around for being literal rehashes and having the blandest aesthetics and level designs of this day and age.

Sonic on the other hand is creativity up the ass. Am I the only one?

Even when Sonic fails horribly, you can at least give him the credit of trying something different. Then, when he does go back to his roots, he tries to shake it up a bit (to mixed success, like Sonic Mania is doing a way better job of evolving the classic formula than 4 did)

Mario may be bland and stale and safe, but Sonic many times goes completely off the rails in pursuit of creativity. Creativity gave us Shadow the Hedgehog on PS2/Gamecube, as well as the Werehog, and Sonic Boom.

This. I have only been interested in Luigi's Mansion (Which isn't even a mario game in itself), Super Mario Galaxy and Odyssey. Mario makes good games but somehow he doesn't have the same wacky feel as Sonic, especially when you look at something like Sonic CD, which admittedly is a bit crazy in level design but is still beautiful in aesthetic.

I can't wait to see and hear stardust speedway.

Does this pattern really apply to Sonic games though? The majority of main series games have at least one female anthro(usually Amy), and that won't be changing anytime soon with Forces on the horizon. More likely the inclusion is there to appeal to girls so Sega can grab the cash.

1% of me is holding out hope that Streets of Rage Mania is next.

That little part of me thinks that the Pine Pot neon sign isn't just a reference but a hint at another game in development. Mania is also the hardest difficulty in SoR games.
