So, I heard spess mehreens can't raise their arms fully upwards, if that is true, then how do they carry their wounded? As in SM who need to be carried back for Dread operation, or hell how did Dorn haul the Emperor's ass if Power Armor is told to be bulky?

they can the shoulder pads retract and move. You have full movement.
only soritas cant and I think inquisitors, terminator armor has its limitations. It has to do with black carpax or how its called with is the link, kind of a USB port, for controlling the spuhz murinz armor.
>>382322596
>>382322686
>>382323324
That begs the question
Why the fuck hasn't the military created a armor that protects your ENTIRE BODY? It's clearly possible due to exosuits becoming real. Don't give me that shit about muh slowness, just make them capable of deployed down from helecopters and jets ODST style. Expensive?
Stop spending 18 million on useless jets and issue one heavy armor dude per squad . Energy? Solar power. Don't they want to save soldiers lives? Why the fuck are they using an outdated helmet design when knights had helmets protecting the face hundreds of years ago? Is the military stupid!? Jesus christ
>>382324273
the truth is protecting someone from modern ballistics is extremely difficult, let alone explosives
>>382324089
>>382324247
Alright move along, stay on topic or stay out
>>382324273
because all of that shit can easily be defeated by an explosive, an RPG or a hi-calibre bullet.
heavy infantry armour is a wet dream because the amount of shit you'd need to make a person impervious to small arms fire is ridiculous and would just make them an easier and larger target for bigger weaponry.
>>382324273
>Energy? Solar power
You can't run an exosuit on solar energy you imbecile.
>>382324273
and how will you power them anon?
And most important, soldiers are expendable!
Solderers die, accidents happen.
You dont want to waste such great equipment for tards who are meant to die cheap.
In future when production and power sources become cheaper you will see combat armour especially when it comes in conjugation titch combat robots.

I can't bring myself to enjoy the third one and its mostly due to the patterns of the decoration and armor color.
Power armor is for _______
>>382324496
Actually, training and equipping a modern soldier is ridiculously expensive. Of course they would use an exosuit to lower casualties if they could.
>>382323636

>>382324648
wrong is cheap as fuck and if you would add exo lesson it would get more expensive.
Anon trust me, solderers are meant to expendable, especially ground troops.
Pilots, officers, SF are not front line troops and guess what, we can barley armour a tank against anti tank weapons artillery and so forth. It is with today's tech impossible to do so for infantryman.

Because while you need boots on the ground to secure an area, in the end actual warfare is done by airforce, artillery and such. Basic infantry doesnt do much more than suppress the enemy and call for an airstrike.
>>382327059

>Stop spending 18 million on useless jets and issue one heavy armor dude per squad
Any amount of armor you put on a soldier or any amount of soldiers you put together is invalidated by a 'useless' jet dropping a bomb or doing a strafing run on them.
>Why the fuck are they using an outdated helmet design when knights had helmets protecting the face hundreds of years ago?
Same reason knights stopped using them; a bullet shot at your face is going to fuck you up no matter what you're wearing. They could design a helmet that stopped rifle bullets, but the problem is designing one that doesn't weigh a fuck-ton and protects your neck from breaking when a bullet slams into your helmet.
>>382323883

RETARD WARNING
Even if 800k a year was somehow cheap (it isn't), American soldiers lives are way more valuable than the cost to train them.
Commanders would sacrifice millions of dollars of equipment before one soldier, because americans do not tolerate mass american casualties well. 60,000 americans were killed in vietnam. Half a million VC/NVA were killed.
We lost, because americans got tired of US soldiers dying. Every time a soldier dies, it weakens the public's will to fight.
Losing a jet or a tank isn't a big deal because americans don't really give a shit about financial losses, they just care about when billy down the street doesn't get home.
Critical thinking, idiot.

I think it's more important to point out that if we had some hypothetical powered armours they'd go to Special Ops guys first, and lives of those dudes are much more valuable than an average grunt's because of their training and experience.
And it's not like military-industrial complex would not latch on an opportunity to R&D an expensive piece of tech to SAVE OUR BOYS.
We just don't have the battery tech yet, though.

And that's wrong. You should go on /tg/ some time (actually, don't). Mechanical engineers have said that, yes, while the boob MIGHT deflect towards the heart (and just as likely to deflect to the side) this is solved simply by increasing the thickness in the middle. They didn't have helmets and in the case of the french, wore very flashy uniforms thinking their swag can lead them to victory at the start of the war. They ate almost all of the horses by 1915 and cavalry was deemed useless by first few months of the war, at least in the western front.

It was also financially unviable. Could you imagine the french levying hundreds of thousands of cannon fodder troops and bothering to equip them with body armour?
No, fuck that. The Napoleonic age of warfare was about shooting down the other fuckers before you got shot. Because once you got shot you're out of the fight anyway. The chances of deflecting a lead ball being shot at you from a musket 20 feet away with plate armour are slim. So what is the point of making people go into close combat with heavy armour that is expensive as fuck and unlikely to protect them?

I like some of the older gen armors in particular since some of the designs looked more like pieces of monsters slapped onto plate armor. Newer designs aren't all that bad, hell some of them aren't even all that different, but it actually looked like the parts of the monsters were being placed on as opposed to the set looking something like monster cosplay.
If there's one thing I'd have to give female armor, it would be how mixed sets generally turn out a bit better on them.

Standard Infantry soldiers already have to run around in combat with roughly 20Kgs of gear. The higher operatives can carry roughly 30Kgs. Even a 50m dash is exhausting enough, doing that all day is extremely taxing. That said body armor that continuously guards against more than 3 rounds is science fiction and only seen in movies and video games. Real body armor becomes much less effective after that. Yeah such armor exists, but is still being tested or is too expensive to issue to soldiers.
