What game was the biggest disappointment to you?
>>
I LOVED Viewtiful Joe when I first played it. But after playing VJ2 I suddenly lost any and all love I had for the entire series and I can't even explain why, honestly.

VJ2 was so disappointing to me that I actually lost respect for a game I previously loved.

It also didn't help that I paid $60 for the stupid thing and like a week later it was a bargain-bin $15 game.
>>
Spore definitely. Also Rome 2.

Bioshock Infinite.

It had the potential to surpass the first game but they had to fuck it completely. The shit story and ending was insulting enough but they completely broke the gameplay to boot. I hope Ken Levine gets brain cancer
>>
>>382315334
This too, the combat just wasn't fun. If they had good action along with the cool aesthetic it could make the game worth it despite the shit story but it was just awful.
>>
>>382315334
>I hope Ken Levine gets brain cancer
You mean one of the key guys for Thief: The Dark Project, System Shock 2 and BioShock? Point is he's one of the best game designers around and Infinite was a fluke where he tried to pander to normies.

Spore, Rome 2, Dragon Age 2, Prince of Persia 2008 (amazingly beautiful graphics terrible gameplay), Call to Arms (no real way to slow down combat and shit dies so damn fast)

>>
>>382316767
Where does Arcanum fit in the Fallout series?
Fantastic game btw.
>>
>>382316837
It doesn't but it was made by a lot of the same folks that were at Black Isles when the first two games were being made, the creator of the series was one of the designers. I don't think it would be a contentious comment to say that Arcanum feels more like a Fallout game than Fallout 3 either.

General progression of staff was Black Isles -> Troika -> Obsidian. With guys like Avellone being at Obsidian to this day.

Favorite companion in Arcanum?

Yes, I'm still mad. I will always be mad. I will continue to be mad. I understand that making every choice you've accumulated over two other games matter would be incredibly difficult if outright impossible. I get that the game was supposedly rushed and probably couldn't have delivered on the promises made even with extra time. But I'm still mad, and I will stay mad for as long as EA and Bioware exist. Fuck ME3. What a goddamn waste.

Yes, I know anon. I was one of the many people who sunk multiple hours into the multiplayer mode to get a higher chance at a "better" ending. I fucking hate multiplayer shooters, yet I still spent so many hours in that mode. Hell, your galactic readiness or what the fuck ever would actually decrease over time, so I had to go back occasionally to play a few rounds otherwise it wouldn't be perfect.

And then we all know what happened with the endings. Trust me, I fell for it all. I replayed ME1 and 2 multiple times to get the perfect save files with all the side quests and choices in the exact way I wanted them. Literally 100+ hours of a series that ultimately would become something I feel disgusted by. Like I said before, I will always be mad.

Swore it was 10/10 when it was released. Ah well, must be remembering wrong. It's still a massive conflict of interest, made even worse when you realize they went to the effort of modeling a unique (if shit) face for Chobot but then gave Tali/the entire Quarian race a quick photoshop face reveal.
>>
>>382319151
All reviews of ME3 are questionable, it's not as abysmal as people make it out to be but it in no way in hell deserved a higher score than the first one and a score two points under the second one.

It was the game that made me realize that brand name in video games means a lot when it comes to critics.
>>
>>382318515
Did you play the first game? It sounded like you didn't like the changes they made in the second game. That's why I was curious, because the games aren't really that much different.
>Played the 360 version, maybe this version is the crappy one idk
I don't know how the console version is, but I wouldn't want to play a game like that with a controller to be honest.
>pretty slow for everything (specially the mounts)
The combat isn't as fast-paced as comparable games I guess, but the first game wasn't either. The mounts are around 50% faster than walking. You found that too slow?
>The skill system is meh (played as sorceress)
I guess you were playing High Elf then. You didn't like the passives or the skills themselves? The skills could be modified with up to 3 mutually exclusive effects which I thought was rather neat. I played the first game a lot more and in fact never finished Sacred 2. I guess I didn't really finish the first game either as I never played through the entirety of Underworld. Overall I like the first game better even if the gameplay seems a bit better in the second game, but I didn't like the setting and story of it.

I enjoyed Spore. It didn't turn out to be everything I hoped, but I did sink a decent amount of hours into it and don't regret a single one.

My biggest disappointment of all time was No Man's Sky. I had such high hopes for that game, I thought it was gonna be the space exploration simulator Ive been looking for my entire life and it just fell flat on its face. After that I've tried elite dangerous, which was fun for a while, but the grind eventually just became overwhelming. I'm convinced there will never be a truly great space exploration sim.

Man I remember a local gaming magazine I was subscribed to had an ENTIRE EDITION dedicated to SPORE. in 2006 (2 years before release). Yes that's right 40 pages just about SPORE. The technology interviews gameplay footage (of the scientific spore).

I was a console gamer at the time and it led to me scraping by all the money I could muster to build my own PC at the time this was really expensive unlike nowadays. Paid around $2000 for the PC in 2007 dollars (all the fucking salary I was paid for the entire year saved up).

Then finally in 2008 SPORE released I remember skipping school and biking to the store I pre-ordered it waiting for it to open in the morning. Riding home and installing it.

I literally cried and was depressed for a week. I became a PC gamer from then on though since I started to get into simulation games in general.

Probably this. I mean, Spore was pretty bad and I was pretty hyped, but I was never invested.

But with Planetside. Man I had so much fun with the original Planetside, driving tanks, flying bombers, coordinating with my teammates and my faction, air dropping ANTs from a Galaxy in the nick of time to save a base under siege about to go neutral. There was tons of teamwork and specialization and players had roles. It had a couple of rough spots (BFRs, CSHD, performance issues) but over all it was the best experience I've ever had in a MMO.

Then this shit came out, basically a clone of BF3, where everyone had access to every type of weapon from the start and it was basically a giant zergfest from base to base, tanks and planes felt ineffectual and pointless, just part of the massive zerg going from base to base or fighting at whatever that popular base was (The Crown, I think), there was little teamwork to speak of outside of coordinated outfits.

This was the last game I was hyped for and I swore that I wouldn't get hyped for another game, ever.

I hear it got better, but honestly the raw material is so bad compared to the original, that no amount of polishing can make it good.

I can see why others love it but after realizing everything I did in the game would end in a korok seed or stamina vessel, I dropped it.
Korok puzzles were kinda nice in the beginning but often repeated, same with shrines but to a lesser degree (still, fuck combat shrines), and the gameplay in the overworld wasn't very engaging.
