It's not the products that are competing, it's the supply chain for the components. There's a major industry-wide shortage of NAND flash memory, which is used for internal storage in the Switch as well as many other products, including Apple's mobile devices. With the supply limited as it is, Nintendo is severely limited on how quickly they can manufacture Switch consoles, so retailers aren't getting enough to meet customer demand.
