Why are so many gamers ashamed to admit how much they like the Sims?

During the Sims 1 days, there were lots of female co-workers that admitted to playing. By Sims 3, most people seen the reskinning scam for what it is.

This is how you play. Pirate all the dlcs and also take full control of the game with mods and you get a lot of fun stuff to do. Sometimes I like to play it normally though. Or just build stuff. I like making a fully custom town and characters.

I torrented it, the crack works only when it wants to so I played only a few hours, but I still wasn't impressed. I fucking hate EA and am opposed to giving them any money especially 70 dollars for such a mediocre sequel. Does the game have a truck load of shit DLC like the last one?

I like the sims and have played since I got the original deluxe edition for Christmas as a kid. I am ashamed to admit this because of how much EA and nuMaxis have steered the franchise into jewery and pandering to the legbeard audience.

Sims 2 was the peak

I love The Sims and I have no problem admitting that I play it. I just torrented SIms 2 Deluxe + all the DLC and I'm having a blast.

I bought The Sims 3 eight years ago when it came out and after becoming a master criminal and collecting everything I wanted I uninstalled it and never played again. I would never actually buy the plethora of reskinned shitty content that is 98% of the Stuff Packs or Expansions. When Sims 4 came out I was tempted but I waited to see what people would say and after watching LGR play it I just never wanted it.

I wish that somehow Maxis gets rid of all the godawful, incompetent diversity-hires they have and went back to their roots but that's highly unlikely. Most of the people that play Sims 4 don't like it from what I've seen and most are calling for Sims 5 or for a indie dev to make a series that will rival The Sims to add more competition because as it is they're the only ones with a life sim like the Sims.

I think one of the biggest misteps besides all the DLC at insane prices is that they focus way too much on partying now. I know even Sims 1 had party DLC but Sims 4 seems to be all dubstep raving and shit. Not only is it unrelatable to their target audience (mostly), but it's like the devs are trying to live vicariously through the game.

It's a mixed bag from what I've seen for Sims 4, I didn't mean the expansions were reskins but they just charged $40 for every new Sims 3 expansion. To buy all of them makes the cost ~$200-$300. For Sims 4 they restructured their pricing for DLC and adding game packs but you still get a lot of reskinned chairs/clothing even in expansions. Not to mention the game-breaking bugs in some of Sims 3's DLC that were never patched like Island Adventure.
