The whole reason for Cloud's breakdown was the shock that his entire worldview was wrong and it made him question if Sephiroth was right about everything. Had Tifa tried to work that out before they got to the Northern Crater it might not have been as bad as it ended up being. The Johnny and Tifa thing always came across more like she wanted to confide in a friend and talk about the situation with someone outside of the party who wouldn't tell Cloud about her feelings, rather than like she was just trying to get laid or fuck someone to piss off Cloud.

This game was released in the 90's, not yesterday. NTR wasn't the meme fetish all the otaku were jerking their micropenii to.
