Is it fun? I love crystal chronicles
No, it's actually really bad.
Nope

Why? Is it repetitive? Too hard? Piss easy?

It's repetitive and reuses the same boss enemies multiple times in a row. For example you fight Ifrit three times in about 30 minutes during story missions. It's combat system feels really stiff and models and animations look bad. Upgrades feel bad and are tied to a random system for unlocking. It really just isn't fun.

Not him but it sounds like FF monster hunter, which is right up my alley

Thing I didn't like. "You have 5 minutes to do this quest."
I kinda like exploring and being hindered by a timer really put me off.

They wanted to make final fantasy monster hunter. It's clear that was the goal. The issue is that is isn't fun and doesn't feel good to play. Think monster hunter but not fun and missing a lot. If you can get the game free give it a try for a bit I guess. But really it isn't worth a purchase.

You'd be better off just playing monster hunter
The combat is stiff, the grinding is annoying, and the monster attacks are either completely trivial or near unavoidable death with very little inbetween, which doesn't matter anyway because death costs nothing but time on the very generous clock
And if you thought charms in MH were obnoxious, the charms here are just as bad if not worse
There's some good ideas in there like making lesser monsters into AI companions and being able to make almost any piece of equipment endgame viable, but it's just not worth it

I will never understand why we could never get a proper sequel for Crystal Chronicles. So much potential wasted.

Nope, it's terrible. It's a Monster Hunter clone without the good gameplay and enjoyable difficulty. It's just spam your skills the game. Not worth it.
