Will it be that good, or are people just hyping it up because

It looks to be a high quality production but I can't imagine how they're going to make the characters feel different. There really isn't much variation between fighting styles in Dragon Ball

It will not be, because their obsession with MUH POWERLEVELS means that only a select few characters will be viable as offense/defense/support and the rest will be complete crap that will only get you through singleplayer at most.
But that's more than I can say for MvCI.

Fighting games are going to have irrelevant characters anyway, you shouldn't make intentionally irrelevant character.

People are hyping it up and discussing it beyond belief to the point that it will be flat by the time the game actually comes out.

Just wait it out.
Its pretty but we dont know how the gameplay will ultimately play out. It could always end up as a broken shitshow or have all the characters play the exact same way.

If it ends up good then cool.

Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan are all very similar in style, but there are a lot of intricacies with other characters that aren't really shown in the series anymore. Piccolo had a ton of abilities in Dragon Ball, so I hope they implement them. Trunks will definitely use his sword a lot, and characters like Kuririn and Tenshinhan have a vast moveset that could make for very interesting fighters.

ASW have already proven to know the source material, so hopefully they take advantage of all of it.
