Also Flynn was a raging hypocrite the plot kept making excuses for.

Luke's character development is fantastic. Basically redeems his insufferable existence as the most obvious foil bait to Asch as a transparent clone there is.

You could even argue Luke is dynamic whilst Asch is almost entirely static as he never changes throughout the whole plot in comparison to Luke.

He wasn't really a true silent protagonist though since so much of the plot revolved around him and he had a pretty clear personality. It did make for a bit of awkward dialogue in parts though.
