Arts no longer start off cooldown at the start of battles.
Instead, you have to charge them up by using auto attacks first.
This means that the opening 10-15 secs of every fight will play out the exact same, and even worse, encounters with weak enemies will be dragged out for no good reason.

I just want mechs. Every Xeno game up until now has had some form of mechanical robot, piloted by a person. Xenogears had the Gears, Saga had whatever they were called (Never played Saga) and Xenoblade Chronicles had the faced Mechon. Do I even need to list Xenoblade Chronicles X? The Skell was on the box art.

Not seeing any mechas in Xenoblade 2 has me dissapointed. The living titans are cool, because it harkens back to the first Xenoblade game with the Bionis and Mechonis, however it just doesn't really look like an Xeno.

It was obvious that Takahashi has no capacity to write anything like Xenogears or at least Xenosaga anymore, XB1's plot was already full to the brim with awful shounen cliches, Zanza was a horrible one-dimensional antagonist (compare that retard to Krelian, seriously) and Shulk is way less interesting than both Fei and even Shion despite the fact she was a massive bitch.

Other than "It's on a Nintendo system now" I don't get why people consider the Xenoblade series to be good. Both games thus far are just mediocre Jrpgs, of which there were dozens of similar quality franchises in the PS2 era. We had like 3 new Jrpg IPs per year.

My only assumption is that Wii and WiiU were staaaaaaaaaaaaaarved for Jrpg's so ANY would do and it HAD to be good no matter what. Standards were lowered and the "Xenoblade Chronicles is a god-tier game" meme stuck around. In my eyes they are on par with .hack// games. Just.. OK.

Xenoblade has prettier vistas but that's it. QUests are still trash, combat is literally an even more braindead version of the most generic MMO you could think of, neither characters or plot are interesting. Nothing is done with the world itself, just mobs spread around MMO-style waiting to be killed.

Actually, Takahashi was never that great of a writer to begin with, Xenogears was great because his wife came up with a lot of the ideas and finer details. In fact his wife came up with the brief summary of Xenoblade's setting and some of his characters. His wife apparently had little to nothing to do with X which could be why its story sucked horse balls, however his wife's talking about Xenoblade 2 a lot on social media implying she might be involved.
