About the DQ localization accents.

Were they always kind of intended? Like I see the japanese script doesn't have any of it (then again, you can't really do that with japanese). But going through some DQ commercials in Japan, you'll see they always use foreign actors for them:

I still think V has one of the greatest stories in video games. The SNES version also has killer music.
I hate VII with a burning passion.
Reason I haven't played 4 is I can't get past the NES version's more aged features and the DS versions absolutely fucking disgusting accents. 6 I hear has a job system like 7 so I stay away from that.
2 is just I don't care enough to play it.

There's a retranslation patch for the DS game that makes it more like the NES localization. It's pretty good. You do lose out on party chat though.

First you have to recruit the soldier guy for 400 gold, then go to the cave east of Endor. You'll find a lot of loot there and the silver goddess statue. Then you can sell the statue for some fat guy in Endor for 25,000 gold. You can get the other 10k by selling stuff.

Be sure to hold on to all the steel broadswords and Iron armors you come by though - you'll need 6 of each after you buy the shop for a errand the king tells you to do

By the way, if you're going to play Builders at some point you might be better going with the original localisation, where Loto is called Erdrick. There's a patch for the snes version that does this. Builders has references to DQ1 that I would have enjoyed, but they went over my head because they were using completely different names for everything

Nigga has been adventuring and shit and being royalty doesn't mean anything when it comes to being /fit/ you of all people should know that considering who purple's dad is, but I'll admit V hero is at the very least the second most /fit/ DQ hero and is the only one who can give VI hero a run for his money.

I could never get into this series because of the goofy, hideous DBZ art style.

Are we talking about overall? If so I would say the hero of V. Yes he had a ton of awful shit happen but he also became king, had a wife and two kids (one of which is a legendary hero), saw his parents happily move on to the afterlife, and a ton of loyal monster followers.

I'm playing through VIII right now and I'm having a nice comfy time.

What I don't get tho is why nintendo went through so much shit to censor outfits and shit for Jessica... like her whole character is about being a sexy girl. Her abilities have to do with throwing kisses and shaking her ass. It just seems stupid to me. People are gonna jack off to her regardless of the censorship I dont get it

Action Replay says hi. All DLC quests are already on the cart and can easily be unlocked. There's only like 1 quest that required an item only obtainable from the online store and that can be obtained with AR as well. Even all of the DLC inn guests can be unlocked with AR.

That was SE. It was the same in jap DQ8 too. Something about CERO becoming more strict so they had to change things in order for it to have the same rating as the original PS2 release.

Nees advice bros. Wanted to play through the games in order via android ports but I'm rapidly losing steam in DQ3. Seems more grindy than the first two games and I'm not making much progress cuz enemies are still whipping me. Should I just give it up and jump to DQ5?

Playing DQVI snes right now, currently grinding jobs and leveling some of my slimes while I think of what I should do next. I feel like I could just end the game since I already made it to the final boss once, but his second form worned me out and third form destroyed me in a couple of turns.

No. You get the liquid metal slime job in the post-game. Pay close attention to the ending.

Yes. When you master a job, a torch will light up. To go to the bonus dungeon, you need to master all the jobs in the game. It can be spread across multiple characters though.

I don't agree at all. Failed characterization or failed storytelling is far more damaging than zero characterization or zero storytelling. It means you're spending hours reading text you dislike, whereas the alternative is just exploring a world you like to explore.
