Infamous 2 was one of those few sequels that manages to be a vast improvement in every area. To the point where Second Son couldn't even compete.

Graphics/aesthetics are much better.
Melee combat is much better.
Range of powers is much better and customizable.
The setting has more varied areas.
More varied enemies and boss fights.
User created levels if those are your thing.
Then just general improvements to the controls and such.
Can't comment on the missions since it's been years since I played either but they were both similar.

Back when it came out it was a staple to what open world video games could become. This happens a lot with older games when you go back and play them, some still hold up to this day from a mechanical and gameplay perspective ie: Half-Life, Super Mario 64, Super Metroid. Gameplay wasn't even that bad. By far the worst thing about the game was the characters, 90% of them were completely unlikable and ruined the experience. Delsin himself was particularly like a poor man's Poochie.

I didn't like how Video basically homogenized the other two powers and added invisibility, but that was it.

Smoke actually felt like an interesting variation of Cole's powers and then they just drop it and there's no reason to use it again as soon as you have Neon, and especially after you get Video.

Fetch was top QT when the DUP cleaned her up. It's too bad you can't play as DUP Fetch and instead got stuck with the shitty version. Quite sure her prison pants were also tighter and molded quite nicely to her behind.
