Can't kill vehicles reliably without at least a rocket launcher or upgraded pistols. And taking on wardens with fists only seems much more difficult than doing so with guns since they have an a painful counter when you get too close.

2 because it did a lot of things right.
- fucktons of ways to customize your character, cars, crib, gang etc,
- activities were activities and story missions were story missions, the next games wasted like 1rd of the missions introducing side activities to you, felt very padded.
- doing the in-game achievements gave you cool rewards like new clothing, weapons etc,
- audio was very good: great selection of songs on the radios and VA was good
- more weapons and more variety in the weapon animations
- 3 melee combat styles
- characters and story were better written, felt more engaging (RIP Carlos)
- balance between seriousness and over the top shit instead of just dick jokes and memes 24/7

The thing the subsequent SR games improved were graphics and combat everything else felt like a step backwards.

3 may have been the beginning of things getting memed up but it was a genuinely enjoyable game with fun shooting. Also hard as fuck at times, which is a good thing. 2 was great and really got the series away from "generic GTA clone", but while a lot of people praise it there's really not all that much there. It's fun for a while, but you run out of things to do very fast, and by the middle of the game it becomes extremely repetitive. For me it also became extremely easy. I never felt like enemies were putting up a competent fight, compared to SR3 where your shit is piledrived in if you continuously fuck up.

3 also has funny and intense moments, even if a good chunk of it falls somewhat flat. Still 2 and 3 are better than 1, far far better than 4, and beyond comparison to Ass out of Hell.

I'll admit 3 was harder, but not significantly unless you limited your upgrades. Also pure invincibility in 2 was a cheat, not that you'd ever really need it. I can see the appeal in 3 being more difficult, but outside of that it lacks a lot, in my opinion. 2 may be easier but there's more enjoyable things to do like better activities.

Besides, if I wanted a difficult open-world crime sandbox I'd go boot up GTA4. Better shooting mechanics than 3, I think, and LC>Steeleport
